Lehigh Comes Out Victorious Against Manhattan

LEONIA, N.J. – The Lehigh women's rowing team enjoyed another strong effort on Sunday, this time beating Manhattan head-to-head in every race they competed. The reigning Patriot League Boat of the Week, Lehigh's Varsity Eight, continued to impress, leading wire-to-wire and winning by more than 30 seconds.
Â
"We had a great day of racing," said Lehigh head coach Brian Conley. "Our Varsity Eight is continuing to find some speed, which is great, and our Varsity Four looked very sharp today as well. We really appreciate Manhattan hosting. It was a great venue and we were able to walk away winning all three events that we raced. It was a great weekend all around for Lehigh."
Â
The Varsity Eight finished in 7:08.30, ahead of Manhattan in second (7:38.52). The Varsity Four came in 8:15.99, nearly 50 seconds ahead of the Jaspers. The final race featured mixed fours to get more student-athletes racing, and saw the Mountain Hawks' A entry finish first (8:10.89).
Â
The Lehigh women are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, May 1 at Colgate to face the Raiders, along with UConn and Marist.
