
Hurly, Quinn in Top 20 For Mountain Hawks After First Round of Wildcat Invitational

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Sophomore David Hurly turned in another low round to lead the way as Lehigh opened action at the Wildcat Invitational with a score of 295 Monday at Radnor Valley Country Club. Hurly birdied three of his first seven holes to shoot even par 70 and sits in a tie for fifth place after the opening 18 holes. Lehigh's 295 has the Mountain Hawks ninth in a 16-team field.
Fifth-year senior Owen Quinn made a birdie and three bogeys in his opening round 72, with Quinn tied for 18th place.
Sophomore Sam Barton opened with a 75 that included two birdies, and is tied for 46th place, while freshman Edmund Broderick was the fourth Mountain Hawk to break 80, carding a two birdies in a 78 and is tied for 72nd place.
Also competing for the Mountain Hawks, were sophomore Joey Dotta, who shot 81 and is tied for 85th place, and freshman AJ Gilpin, who shot 86 in his Lehigh debut.
St. John's shot three under par 277 to take the team lead by five strokes over Bucknell. Host Villanova and Drexel are tied for third 12 strokes behind the Red Storm.
Jack Simon and Douglas Beney of St. John's are tied for the individual lead after rounds of four under par 66.
The Wildcat Invitational concludes Tuesday with the final 18 holes at Radnor Valley Country Club.
