Lehigh takes down Colgate in Hamilton

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Lehigh women's tennis team (3-1, 2-0) bounced back from last weekend's defeat by going up to Hamilton and taking down the Raiders of Colgate by a score of 4-0. Saturday's win marked the seventh straight victory over the Raiders for Lehigh.

Starting in doubles, the Mountain Hawks took two of the matches to obtain the doubles point. The top pair of Paula Gonzalez and Leighanna Moskos dominated their match and took a 6-1 victory. Then at the No. 3 spot, sophomore Junmoke James and junior Anshika Singh defeated their opponents by a 6-3 score.

With the 1-0 lead going into singles, the Brown and White finished the job. Playing to clinch (first to four points), Lehigh took wins quickly in the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 spots to seal the victory. Freshman Rachel Buchinsky impressed with a straight set win over her opponent, 6-1, 6-3. The junior Singh registered the win at the No. 5 spot in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. First-year player Moskos finalized the win by a 6-3, 6-0 win over her opponent.

The senior Gonzalez was tied 6-6 in the first set before her match was called. The sophomore James took the first set in her match before the match was stopped.

Up next, the Mountain Hawks will travel to Lewisburg and take on Bucknell next Sunday for another Patriot League showdown.
