Lehigh Wraps up Saturday Regatta vs. Saint Joseph’s

PHILADELPHIA – In its first race since the fall of 2019, the Lehigh women's rowing team put forth a solid effort against Saint Joseph's Saturday on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia. The two races saw the Varsity Four finish first while the Varsity Eight came in second out of three.
"Overall, we had a decent day," said Lehigh head coach Brian Conley. "It's always exciting to get back out and race, especially since it's been a while. The team was definitely excited about that."
The Mountain Hawks' Varsity Four posted a time of 7:24.77, ahead of Saint Joseph's in second (7:30.27). In the Varsity Eight, the Saint Joe's "A" boat came in first (6:31.31), followed by Lehigh in second (6:43.80) and the Saint Joseph's "B" boat in third (6:45.92).
"The Varsity Four led from the start and finished really strong," said Conley. "In the Varsity Eight, the lack of experience of racing for the past year was evident. We definitely shook off the rust and are looking forward to next week when we take on Drexel, who's also a really strong competitor."
The Mountain Hawks' women and men's teams will be in action against the Dragons next weekend, also on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.
