Mountain Hawks handled by Drexel in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA ā Senior Owen Thomas registered two of his team's four first place finishes on the day, but the Lehigh men's swimming and diving team fell to Drexel, 196-102 Saturday morning at Daskalakis Athletic Center Pool.

The Mountain Hawks (2-3) were led by Thomas' two victories, while Connor Goodyear and senior diver Addison Cochran each picked up wins in their respective events.

Goodyear earned Lehigh's first win of the meet in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.50.

Thomas followed up Goodyear's win with a win of his own on the 50-yard backstroke with a mark of 23.99. Thomas also claimed a victory in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.13.

On the boards, Cochran's win came in the one-meter diving event with a score of 282.30, 11 points ahead of Drexel's Peter Soares for second place. Cochran came in second in the three-meter dive, scoring a 262.58.

The Mountain Hawks got second place finishes out of Connor Sept in the 50-yard breaststroke (26.84), the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.40 for Glenn Lasco and the 100-yard freestyle as Alex Patti (46.95) and Lasco (47.14) finished in second and third place, respectively.

The team of Patti, Aiden McCurley, Tim Norris and Lasco swam to a second-place finish in the 200-freestyle relay with a time of 1:25.03.

Lehigh takes almost a month off from action before returning to Jacobs Pool on Jan. 22 vs. Bucknell at 1 p.m.
