BETHLEHEM, Pa. – On Saturday afternoon, the Lehigh women's basketball team returns home to Stabler Arena for the final time before finals and winter break, hosting Binghamton at 2 p.m. on 3's For a Cure Day presented by Red Robin in partnership with LLS.

The Mountain Hawks (5-3) gave Villanova all it could possibly handle on Wednesday evening, but came up just short of pulling off the win on the road, falling 65-60 to the Wildcats at Finneran Pavilion.

Lehigh is looking to snap a season-worst two game losing streak after back-to-back losses to Missouri and Villanova following a 5-1 start to the 2021-22 campaign. The Mountain Hawks are 5-0 against mid-major teams so far this year, going 0-3 against high-major opponents including 0-2 vs. the Big East and 0-1 vs. the SEC.

Four Mountain Hawks recorded double-figures on Wednesday as Emma Grothaus led the way with 16 points, Frannie Hottinger had 12 and both Megan Walker and Mackenzie Kramer each chipped in 10. In point guard Clair Steele's absence, Walker registered a career-high six assists to go along with her 10 points and six rebounds in the contest.

Lehigh continues to have consistent presence on the Patriot League leaderboards this season with Hottinger (16.8 ppg) and Kramer (15.4) ranking third and fourth, respectively in points per game. Grothaus is fifth in the league in rebounding (8.0), while Steele is tops in assists (6.0) and Kramer is first in 3-pointers made per game (3.0)

Saturday marks the Mountain Hawks' last game for two weeks until Dec. 18 vs. Delaware State. Lehigh then heads to George Washington on Dec. 21 for the final non-league tune-up before Patriot League play starts up on Dec. 30 vs. American.

Binghamton is out to a .500 start to the 2021-22 season, going 3-3 through its first six games.

Despite starting the year out 2-0, the Bearcats have dropped three of their last four games, last coming off a 63-40 defeat to Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday evening. Binghamton hasn't won a game against a Division I opponent since Nov. 13 vs. Canisius. The Bearcats' last win came against DII Mansfield on Nov. 23, a 104-45 victory.

In the loss to the Knights, Birna Benonysdottir led the way with 15 points, adding three rebounds and two blocks with a steal. She also turned the ball over four of the Bearcats' 19 times for the contest. Denai Bowman added 12 points with four boards and three assists. Clare Traeger played 26 minutes off the bench and recorded a team-high nine rebounds.

Benonysdottir leads Binghamton in scoring at 18.7 points per game, averaging four boards and 1.7 assists in 23 minutes of action. She has played just three of the team's six games this year. Traeger is averaging 12.5 points and 8.7 rebounds, while Bowman has chipped in 11.0 points with nearly four rebounds and assists in 29.7 minutes.

The Bearcats finished 5-11 overall with a 5-9 record in America East play during the shortened 2020-21 season. In 2019-20, Binghamton went 22-9 overall and 10-6 in conference action, falling 57-42 at Stony Brook in the AE Semifinals.

Saturday afternoon will mark the 13th meeting all-time between Lehigh and Binghamton, with the Mountain Hawks holding a 9-3 series record.

Lehigh has won the previous seven meetings dating back to Dec. 7, 2006 and last played against Binghamton on Nov. 21, 2018 on the road, 65-55.

The Mountain Hawks are 6-0 all-time at Stabler Arena vs. the Bearcats.

Saturday's game will be streamed live on ESPN+ (subscription required) with Matt Markus on the play-by-play call, as action tips off from Stabler at 2 p.m.
