BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A mini two-week break is over as the Lehigh women's basketball team returns to Stabler Arena to host Delaware State in the final non-league home game of the regular season on Saturday afternoon, tipping off at 2 p.m.

Lehigh earned its sixth victory of the 2021-22 campaign on Dec. 4, topping Binghamton, 79-68 behind four players reaching double figures with two also getting double-doubles. Frannie Hottinger led the way with 17 points, while Megan Walker finished with 16, Emma Grothaus had 15 and Mackenzie Kramer 14. Hottinger tallied 12 rebounds while Grothaus finished with 13.

The Mountain Hawks trailed the Bearcats by as many as 15 points in the closing seconds of the first half, before taking over with a 51-29 scoring output over the final 20 minutes to claim the win.

Hottinger (16.8 ppg), Kramer (15.2), Grothaus (13.4) and Walker (10.8) are all averaging double scoring figures through Lehigh's first nine games of the season while Grothaus is averaging 8.6 boards, Hottinger with 7.3 and senior guard Clair Steele is still the Patriot League's leader in assists per game at 6.0, despite missing the last two games due to injury.

Notably, Hottinger has scored 10 or more points in nine straight games to open the season, stretching to an overall streak of 14 straight games dating back to the tail end of last season.

The Mountain Hawks conclude non-league play in the regular season on Tuesday at George Washington before returning to Stabler Arena for the Patriot League opener vs. American on Dec. 30 at 2 p.m.

It's been eight games to start the year and Delaware State is still searching for its first victory of the 2021-22 season, starting the campaign off with an 0-8 overall record.

The Hornets have struggled so far, averaging just 44.9 points per game and giving up 79.4 per contest with a scoring margin of -34.5. They have not scored more than 51 points in a single game this season, which came in a 120-51 defeat to Penn State on Nov. 16.

The last time out, Delaware State came out on the losing end of a 74-36 final to Rutgers on Sunday.

First year guard Sianny Sanchez-Oliver led the way with eight points, while the trio of Alexis Moragne, Correyain Wright and Unique Miller each tallied six.

The tandem of Joy Watkins and Sanchez-Oliver are both averaging nearly 10 points per game at 9.6, while Moragne is averaging 8.0. Miller is tied for the team lead in rebounds with Zoe Holmes at 7.8 per game.

The Hornets went 3-12 in the shortened 2020-21 season, finishing 2-8 in MEAC play.  In their last full season back in 2019-20, they went 12-18 with an 8-8 MEAC record.

Lehigh and Delaware State will play for the fourth time on Saturday afternoon, with the Mountain Hawks leading the all-time series, 3-0. Lehigh has won the previous three meetings over the Hornets, since the series began during the 2015-16 season.

The Mountain Hawks knocked off Delaware State in the season opener in Dover, 68-38 on Nov. 6, 2019. Saturday will mark just the second time in the series played at Stabler Arena.

Saturday's matchup will be streamed live on ESPN+ (subscription required) with Matt Markus on the play-by-play call.

The matchup is also on Ugly Sweater Day at Stabler Arena. Spectators who wear an ugly (or not) holiday sweater will get a $10 concessions voucher for the game.
