Shippee sets triple jump mark as Lehigh competes in three meets

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The women's track and field team competed in three meets and saw one school record set in this weekend's action. The Mountain Hawks traveled to The University of Virginia, Moravian College and Princeton University for a busy weekend of competition.
At the Virginia Challenge at the University of Virginia on Friday, junior Jordan Otto finished fifth overall in the high jump with a mark of 1.64m. In the pole vault, senior Kaitlyn Toman finished in a four-way tie for 17th place with a final mark of 3.57m.
Senior Tyler Bannister finished 13th overall in the heptathlon with a final score of 3678. Bannister finished third in the high jump portion of the heptathlon, earning a 1.65m mark.
At the Greyhound Invitational at Moravian College, sophomore Kara Bonner and freshman Carly Friend finished second and third respectively in the 800m. Bonner finished with a time of 2:20.56, a personal record, and Friend finished the race in 2:21.45.
Freshman Carly Carpino finished the 100m hurdles in sixth place overall with a time of 15.39. Carpino earned a time of 15.52 in the preliminary 100m hurdles race, good for third place. Freshman Lauren Powell earned a third place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:05.05, earning a personal record.
In the jumps, Lehigh had strong showings in both the high jump and the pole vault. Freshman Hannah FIgueroa was one of four Mountain Hawks to finish in the top ten in the high jump, earning a mark of 1.56m and second place overall. Junior Alexis Wintle (1.56m), senior Olivia Reinold (1.50m) and freshman Emily Dolan (1.45m) also finished in the top ten of the high jump. Dolan's 1.45m mark earned her a personal record.
In the pole vault, sophomore Madisyn Hawkins finished third overall with a 3.40m mark. Junior Caitlin Reverand finished sixth with a 3.35m mark and freshman Carly Roche finished eighth, earning a mark of 3.05m.
In the triple jump, senior Armani Comick finished eighth overall, earning a mark of 10.15m.
In the throws, Dolan finished fifth overall in the shot put with a mark of 10.37. Dolan also finished third overall in the javelin, earning a mark of 35.73m. She earned personal records in both events, finishing the weekend's competition having set three personal records.
At the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton University, junior Cate Shippee earned a school record in the triple jump, earning a mark of 11.72m, beating the previous school record of 11.69m, set by Kiana Wright in 2016.
In the 1500m unseeded race, junior Hannah Bonaguidi finished first overall, finishing with a time of 4:40.69. Junior Sophie Antonoli finished third overall in the 800m unseeded race, finishing with a time of 2:15.65.
Senior Noreen Byrne finished seventh overall in the 400m hurdles, finishing with a time of 1:02.51.
In the 3000m steeplechase, junior Ashleigh Crawford finished 10th overall with a time of 10:47.65.
Sophomore Brittany Curtin finished fifth overall in the hammer throw, earning a mark of 51.23m.
