QUAKERTOWN, Pa. – The Lehigh rowing team's spring opener was shortened on Saturday morning due to windy conditions and rough waters, but not before the Women's Varsity Eight put forth a strong showing against Patriot League foe Loyola on Lake Nockamixon. The Mountain Hawks began the day by beating Loyola by nearly 40 seconds, but after the Women's V8, the remaining races scheduled were postponed, and eventually cancelled due to safety reasons.    "The team was disappointed not to be able to race, but definitely showed up ready mentally and physically," said Lehigh head coach Brian Conley. "The Women's V8 raced fantastically. They managed the conditions and raced to a 38-second margin by maintaining their composure and strength down the course. I'm excited to see the full team in action next week."

Lehigh finished in a time of 6:48.58, ahead of Loyola's pace of 7:27.56.

The Mountain Hawks return to action next Saturday, Mar. 23 at the Murphy Cup on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.
