Nowak posts singles win in Monday match at Coastal Carolina

CONWAY, S.C. – Lehigh continued its spring break trip with a visit to Coastal Carolina on Monday but the host Chanticleers came away with a 4-1 victory over the Mountain Hawks at Stevens Tennis Complex. Freshman Elizabeth Nowak posted a straight set win for the Mountain Hawks at No. 4 singles to account for Lehigh's lone point. The Mountain Hawks fall to 4-6 with the setback.
Coastal Carolina (5-5) swept the doubles matches to take the early 1-0 lead. The closest match came at No. 3 where senior Grace Lin and junior Leigh Friedman fell 6-5 to Alicja Zduniak and Alexa Tiefel.
In singles play, Somer Dalla-Bona topped Lin 6-1, 6-2 at the third flight. Nowak put Lehigh on the board with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Jessie Mount at No. 4, but the Chanticleers closed things out with straight set wins at the No. 1 and No .5 flights.
The Mountain Hawks will return to the courts on Saturday when they visit Loyola in the Patriot League opener for both teams, with first serves set for 3 p.m. from Baltimore.
