Lehigh Looks To Get Back To Winning Ways With Visit To Bucknell

BETHLEHEM, Pa - The Mountain Hawk will look to get back to their winning ways as they travel to take on the Bucknell Bison tomorrow at Sojka Pavilion in Lewisburg, Pa. In its most recent performance, the Lehigh women's basketball team tasted defeat for the first time to a Patriot League opponent this season as they fell to the Boston University Terriers 58-46 at Case Gym. The 45 points scored against Boston University is now the lowest point total for the Mountain Hawks this season, with the previous low being 48 points scored against Villanova in the 70-48 loss to the Wildcats.
The Mountain Hawks were led offensively by senior Hailey Pascoe who delivered a career night, scoring a career-high 22 points against the Terriers. Pascoe's previous scoring high was set on January 14, 2017 at Holy Cross when she unleashed 16 points against the Crusaders. Her 22 points also makes her just the second Mountain Hawk to crack the 20 point mark this season, joining junior Cameryn Benz, who holds the season high of 23 points scored in a single game.
Coming into this contest, Lehigh currently has the 15th best scoring defense in the nation, only allowing an average of 54.7 points per game. The Mountain Hawks are currently ranked in the top-100 in fewest fouls (47th), field goal percentage defense (59th), scoring margin (78th), 3pt fg defense (69th) and rebound margin (73rd).
Although leading the all-time series 43-40 against Bucknell, the Bison have won four of the last five against the Mountain Hawks.
Coming into the season, Bucknell was predicted to finish first in the Patriot League, earning 154 points along with 14 first-place votes in the preseason coaches poll. The Bison were victorious in their most recent game, defeating Lafayette 56-47 to move to 3-1 in league play and 12-4 overall.
Kaitlyn Slagus led the Bison in scoring with 16 points and eight rebounds while Ellie Mack recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. The Bison have had a competitive schedule so far this season, facing Syracuse, UMass, Quinnipiac and Iowa State. Against the Patriot League, Bucknell is currently 3-1, losing to Boston University 70-62 to begin league play. Leading the Bison in scoring so far this season had been Slagus, scoring 12.8 points per game with Mack scoring 11.2Â Â per game. Slagus has also been the leader in rebounding with 7.5 per game along with leading minutes played per game with 27.9.
