BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Patrick Reilly of the Lehigh men's track and field and cross country teams has been named a First Team Google Cloud Academic All-District selection, CoSIDA announced on Tuesday. The award recognizes the top student-athletes in the nation for their combined performances both on the field and in the classroom.
This is the first Academic All-District honor for Reilly, who graduated from Lehigh on May 21 after double majoring in both political science and physics, and held a cumulative GPA of 4.0. Reilly qualified for the NCAA Championships in cross country in Louisville, Kentucky last fall to cap off a spectacular senior season. He led Lehigh in all five of his races last season leading up to the Patriot League Championships, including the first two individual wins of his career at the Lehigh Invitational and Lehigh-Lafayette dual meet. He earned All-Region honors after a fifth place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals on. Nov. 10, with qualified him for the NCAA Championships. At the Paul Short Run on Sept. 29, his time of 23:57 set a new program record on the Goodman Campus 8K course.
This year on the track, he landed on the podium with a bronze medal in third place of the indoor 5K, and took seventh in the 3K. He went on to score team points during outdoors as well in the 10K, where he placed seventh.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District teams are voted upon by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America. Reilly was one of 13 individuals from District 2 and one of five from the Patriot League to be recognized. As a first team honoree, Reilly will now advance to the Academic All-America ballot, which will be voted upon and announced in June.
