BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Three Lehigh baseball student-athletes, senior Chris Kersey, junior Ethan Frohman and junior Jeff Shanfeldt, all earned a spot on the 12-member 2018 Patriot League Baseball Academic All-League Team as the league announced its academic awards on Thursday morning.
Â
Kersey closed out his career with an outstanding senior season both on the field and in the classroom. The Industrial and Systems and IBE Finance major owns a 3.71 GPA and is a five-time Dean's List member, including the last four-straight semesters entering his final term. Â
Frohman continued his trend of outstanding academic achievement with reliable production as Lehigh's top relief man. In the classroom, the Industrial and Systems and IBE Finance major owns a 3.92 GPA, which ranked fourth among the Academic All-Patriot League members this year. Frohman has made the Dean's List all five semesters entering this spring and has compiled four-straight 4.0 terms.
Â
The Lehigh reliever led the Patriot League in saves this season with five as he held league opponents to a .143 batting average. Frohman has led Lehigh in saves (9) and appearances (32) over the last two seasons. His 11 career saves currently ranks second all-time in program history.
Â
Shanfeldt also has proved to be a textbook example of success both in the classroom and on the field. The 2018 Second Team All-Patriot League catcher boasts a 3.80 GPA as a business major. He is a four-time member of the Lehigh Dean's List and posted a 4.0 term last spring while playing 41 games for the Brown and White.
