Women’s Track and Field Unveils Award Winners at End of Season Reception

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's track and field team has unveiled its team awards winners for the 2017-18 season. Head coach Matt Utesch announced the award winners and at the team's end of the year reception at the Carol & John Covert Pavilion following Saturday's Lehigh Games meet at Goodman Campus. The event featured speeches from the senior class as the team reflected on this season and their time at Lehigh.
Junior Kaitlyn Toman was named the team's Most Outstanding Athlete. Toman is in the midst of another fantastic season, having reset the indoor and outdoor pole vault records on multiple occasions. She won the vault at five meets during the indoor season and earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors by finishing runner-up at the Patriot League Indoor Championships after breaking the school record and surpassing the previous Patriot League championship meet record at 3.95 meters. Earlier this outdoor season, she broke the school record at the Lehigh-Lafayette dual meet at 3.85 meters.
Senior Hannah Leskow was named the women's Scholar Athlete of the Year. Holding a 3.86 cumulative GPA, Leskow has earned a 4.0 GPA in each of the last two fall semesters and has made the Dean's List (>3.6 GPA) six times. During the 2016 indoor track season, she was named an Academic All-Patriot League selection and won a Patriot League Championship as a member of the distance medley relay team that set a school and league record at the time.
The Coaches Award was presented to senior Amanda Youngblood. Youngblood finished fourth at the Patriot League Indoor Championships in the weight throw in February, and previously earned indoor wins in the weight throw at the Bucknell Tune-Up and the shot put at the Lehigh-Lafayette dual meet. Entering this weekend's Patriot League Championships, Youngblood ranks eighth in the discus (41.01m), 11th in the hammer (46.21m) and 13th in the shot put (12.77m).
The Mountain Hawks will compete for a Patriot League Championship this Friday and Saturday at Lafayette in Easton, Pa.
