Lehigh Men Set for Penn Relays and Lehigh Games

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's track and field team is set to host the Lehigh Games this weekend at Goodman Campus as part of the team's final competition ahead of next weekend's Patriot League Championships. Lehigh will also have several athletes taking part at the Penn Relays Thursday through Saturday.
Lehigh Games - Participating Teams:
Delaware Valley, DeSales, Dominican (N.Y.), East Stroudsburg, Eastern, Keystone, Lehigh, Loyola (Md.), Monmouth, Moravian, Muhlenberg, Rowan, Scranton and Saint Joseph's.
The unscored Lehigh Games will get underway on Friday afternoon with the hammer throw and javelin at 3:30 p.m. with all other events taking place throughout Saturday at Lehigh's Goodman Campus Track. All field events on Saturday will begin between 10 a.m. and noon, with the women's 5,000m kicking off the track events at 11 a.m. Live results will be available at mitchelltiming.com. Following the final event of the meet at approximately 4:30 p.m., Lehigh will hold a ceremony to honor the members of the senior class of 2018.
Penn Relays
Prior to the Lehigh Games, the Mountain Hawks will have several athletes once again heading to historic Franklin Field in Philadelphia for the Penn Relays.
On Thursday's first day of competition, sophomore Victor Yegon will race in the 3,000m steeplechase at 7:25 p.m. Under the lights at 9:25 p.m., a pair of seniors in Patrick Reilly and John Tolbert will take part in the 5K.
Friday will feature junior Ryan Givens competing in both the high jump at 10 a.m. and the long jump at 3:30 p.m., followed by senior Trevor Knowles running in the heats of the 100m hurdles at 3:40. The Mountain Hawks also have Emre Soybas, Matt Solomon, Michael Camera and Samuel Tapera competing in the 4x200 meter relay on Friday afternoon at 1:35 p.m.
Sophomore Kyle Sult will conclude Lehigh's competition on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. in the javelin.

Lehigh is coming off a number of quality showings at three meets last weekend, including three marks that rank in the top two in the Patriot League. Jeffrey Kirshenbaum ran the second fastest 5K time in the league at 14:21.53 and Tolbert turned in the No. 2 steeplechase time of 9:08.70, both at the Larry Ellis Invitational. Givens cleared 7.04m at the Virginia Challenge, which currently ranks as the top high jump in the PL. Paul also hit an IC4A qualifying time in the steeplechase, as did Alexander Fitzgerald in the 5K, both of which rank in the top nine in the PL.
