BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh field hockey team will wrap up the 2018 season on Sunday when it travels to Towson for a nonleague tilt against the Tigers. Gametime is set for 1 p.m. The Mountain Hawks are looking to win their season finale for the second time in Caitlin Dallmeyer's three seasons as head coach after doing so just once in the previous 18 years. Lehigh will be vying to win its season finale on the road for the first time since 1997.
Â
It has been a tough season on the stat sheet for the Mountain Hawks, but the year has featured plenty of progress and building-block victories. Lehigh beat Ball State for the first time since 1984, while also earning a Patriot League victory vs. Colgate. The Mountain Hawks have shattered last season's goal total of 15, currently owning 21. Sophomore Lenke Havas has been a catalyst offensively (and defensively), who leads the Patriot League with eight assists and is tied for third with 18 points. She is the only player in the league in the top five in both points and defensive saves (3).
Â
The Mountain Hawks have gotten contribution from a number of different individuals. Freshman Leah Mullery is second on the team with 11 points behind five goals and an assist. She owns two multi-goal games this season, while another freshman – Sam Nason – has a multi-goal game as well. Both Mullery and Olivia Perrone have been named Patriot League Rookie of the Week this season, the first time in program history Lehigh has had two rookies of the week in the same season. Lehigh's seniors have contributed as well, including Lindsay Alvarez who has seven points (three goals, one assist) over the last six games, most recently scoring a second-half goal at Yale Sunday.
Â
Towson is 1-15 on the season heading into a Friday matchup at James Madison, with its win coming over LIU Brooklyn on Sept. 9, 4-1. The Tigers have lost several close contests, including three straight one-goal defeats at Georgetown, vs. Delaware and against Drexel. Katie McNeel leads Towson in goals (7), assists (3) and points (17), 10 points more than anyone else on her team. Mackenzie Peacock has seen the majority of time in goal, tallying a 3.67 GAA and 0.612 save percentage.
