BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a back-and-forth game of runs against Holy Cross, the Lehigh men's basketball team will hit the road again when it travels to Boston University on Monday. Opening tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at Case Gymnasium. Monday will be a rematch of last season's Patriot League Semifinal thriller which saw the Mountain Hawks pull out a 91-88 double overtime win. Both teams graduated key personnel from last season's teams, but expectations for each remain high as both were picked in the top four of the Patriot League preseason poll.
Among the Terriers' losses were two All-League honorees in Eric Fanning and Justin Alston while Lehigh lost All-League members Tim Kempton and Austin Price. Both teams have shown strong signs in 2017-18 with the Mountain Hawks winning at defending Ivy League Champion Princeton while the Terriers picked up a win at Bucknell last Tuesday. Lehigh and Boston University are two of seven teams in the Patriot League currently tied for first place with a 2-1 league record.
Most recently, Lehigh fell into an early 19-3 hole against Holy Cross Friday, but responded to take a 45-40 halftime lead and 67-51 second-half advantage. Not long after, Lehigh scored five straight points behind a Kyle Leufroy layup and Lance Tejada three-pointer, giving the Mountain Hawks an eight-point cushion, on their way to the 83-77 victory. Returning from injury, Tejada led the offense with 25 points off the bench, shooting 6-of-8 from three-point range. He also set a career high with five assists. Sophomore Pat Andree posted 17 points and seven boards, including 5-of-9 from long distance. He was integral in the first half, scoring 14 points to help Lehigh climb out of its early hole.

Ross moved up another spot in the Lehigh record book, passing Fred Ketcho for 23rd place in school history for career points (currently 1,153). Lehigh made 15 three-pointers (on 26 attempts) to tie a Stabler Arena record. The last time the Mountain Hawks had 15 was last December 12 against Saint Francis (Pa.) when Lehigh was 15-of-31, led by Andree's school-record tying 10 made threes (on 12 attempts). The last time Lehigh eclipsed 50 percent from three-point range was last Feb. 15 at Navy (52.6 percent, 10-of-19). Lehigh made 15 three-pointers against Holy Cross compared to 14 two-pointers, marking the second time this season it had more made threes than twos, the other being at Virginia (10 made threes, nine made twos in that contest).
Freshmen Caleb Bennett and Marques Wilson also added strong contributions off the bench. Bennett knocked down his only three-point attempt while adding a career-high tying three assists. Wilson continued his strong play since the start of Patriot League play, scoring five points for a second straight game. After the tough start, Lehigh scored 42 points over the final 12:55 of the first half to help the Mountain Hawks score 80 points for the first time since Nov. 29 at Princeton (seven games ago).
