Lehigh to Host Army for Alumnae Day on Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh women's basketball team returns home this Saturday for the lone time in a seven game stretch to on Army West Point on Alumnae Day. Lehigh will be welcoming back many players from over the years and will hold a halftime ceremony paying tribute to the 1996-97 team that captured the program's first Patriot League Championship and NCAA Tournament berth.
Lehigh has won three of its last four games, and is unbeaten at home in league play at 4-0. The Mountain Hawks are coming off their first road win during PL play on Wednesday night at Colgate, holding off a late 12-2 Raiders' run for a 59-51 win. Lehigh never trailed in the game and notched nine steals off 14 Colgate turnovers in the game, but the Raiders held a 15-14 edge in points off turnovers. Senior Quinci Mann led the Mountain Hawks with 15 points to move into seventh place on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,348 points. Camryn Buhr picked up her team-leading fifth double-double of the season (fourth during league play) with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Cameryn Benz tied a career-high with eight rebounds.
Army West Point dropped an eight-point overtime decision on Wednesday night at home to Holy Cross. Army's bench contributed a season-high 25 points, while outrebounding Holy Cross 43-39 and outscoring them 16-7 in second chance points.
PARTY LIKE IT'S 1997
As part of Saturday's Alumnae Day festivities, Lehigh will welcome back many of its former players, including several members of the 1997 team that captured the program's first Patriot League Championship and NCAA Tournament berth. In front of a then-record crowd of 2,561 at Stabler Arena, Lehigh defeated Lafayette in the title game 65-63 in overtime when Kelly Madden hit a buzzer-beating floater from near the foul line. Lehigh advanced to play No. 1 UConn in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

ALL-TIME VS. ARMY WEST POINT
Lehigh enters Saturday's matchup trailing Army in the all-time series 33-30. The Black Knights have won 10 of the last 12 dating back to February 2013. The two programs met three times in 2014-15 and 2015-16, with Lehigh winning twice during the 2014-15 season,
including a 76-57 win at Army in the Patriot League semifinals. Army has won three straight at Stabler Arena.
Last season, Quinci Mann and Bernadette Devaney scored 13 points each and Cameryn Benz added 11 in a 75-71 defeat to open league play. Both teams combined for 57 points in a seesaw fourth quarter before Army ended the game on a 7-0 run.
In their second matchup last year on Feb. 25, Army forced 20 turnovers and grabbed 13 steals in a 70-52 win. Despite Lehigh outshooting Army by a wide margin, Army outscored Lehigh 18-4 off turnovers and 20-4 on second chance points in the game.
Army won the first 11 matchups in the all-time series between the two schools, with their first meeting coming in the 1983-84 season. Lehigh had a six game winning streak from 2004-2006.
SCOUTING THE BLACK KNIGHTS
After finishing 7-4 out of league, preseason co-PL favorite Army has struggled to a 2-5 record in Patriot League play. Scoring 63.8 ppg this season, the Cadets have scored just 54.4 ppg through seven league games. Holding a 2.6 scoring margin and a .385 field goal pct. overall this season, Army holds a -9.3 scoring margin and is shooting 32.5 percent in league play (20.5 3FG%), all of which rank in the bottom two of the league.
Both of Army's league wins have come on the road at Lafayette and Loyola. They have averaged 67 points in those two wins, while scoring just 49 points in their league losses. The Cadets were outscored 18-10 in overtime of their game Wednesday at home against Holy Cross, dropping a 70-62 decision.
Preseason Player of the Year Madison Hovren ranks fifth in the league in both scoring (14.6) and field goal percentage (.438), while ranking third with 10.3 rebounds per game. Last year's Defensive Player of the Year, Aliyah Murray, scores 10.1 ppg and 7.3 reb. per game. Diazjah Morris ranks second in the league with 2.1 steals per game, leading the way for a team that ranks second in the league with 9.7 steals per contest this season. As a team, Army ranks second in the PL by holding a 3.7 rebounding margin and sits atop of the group by hauling in 14.8 offensive rebounds per game.
Margaret Anne Hubbell has come off the bench in all 18 games to shoot over 50 percent from the floor, with Libby Tacka (40.9) and Destinee Morris (25.4) as their top threats from beyond the arc.
