BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following a convincing win over No. 13/14 Princeton on Tuesday, the Lehigh men's lacrosse team hits the road for the final time this regular season when the Mountain Hawks travel to Cornell to face the Big Red. Opening faceoff is set for 1 p.m. on the Ivy League Digital Network. With a win, Lehigh would defeat Princeton and Cornell in the same season for first time in school history.

On Tuesday, Lehigh jumped out to a 9-1 halftime lead over Princeton, which eventually extended to 10-1 early in the third quarter as the Mountain Hawks held the Tigers scoreless for a stretch of 18:58. Princeton responded with an 8-2 run, bridging the third and fourth quarters, to pull within 12-9 with 11:45 still remaining. However, the Mountain Hawks had an answer, scoring the next two and three of the game's last four goals to win, 15-10. Lehigh defeated Princeton for the second time in the last three years, both coming at home. The Mountain Hawks also earned their second straight home win over a nationally-ranked opponent for the first time in at least the last 10 seasons. In their previous home games, Lehigh defeated No. 16/18 Boston University, 10-6.

Each of the Mountain Hawks' starting attackmen and midfielders tallied multiple points, led by five points from senior Ian Strain to shatter his previous career high. Strain finished with two goals and a career-high three assists. Sophomore Tristan Rai scored three goals for his 12th-career hat trick, reaching 50 career goals by scoring the game's first goal at 13:07 of the first quarter. Senior Cody Triolo and sophomores Andrew Pettit and Lucas Spence each had three points behind two goals and one assist. Senior Anthony Ramaizel had a strong game with a career-high two points via a goal and assist. He scored a big unassisted goal with 7:50 remaining to give Lehigh a 14-9 advantage and some much-needed insurance.

Defensively, sophomore Craig Chick led the way with nine groundballs (just one from tying a career high, which was set at Princeton last year), three caused turnovers, four faceoff wins (in eight attempts) and one assist. Chick also eclipsed 100 career groundballs and increased his season caused turnover total to 34 and career total to 71, which stands tied for second in school history (with Mike Noone). With 13 more, Chick will move into the top 25 in NCAA history for career caused turnovers. Last season, Chick had a big game against Cornell with seven groundballs and seven caused turnovers.

In addition, sophomore Eddie Bouhall and junior Danny Norris each recorded three groundballs and two caused turnovers. Senior Casey McAdam was strong facing off, winning seven draws on the evening with five caused turnovers. Senior Donny Stires also tied a career-high 13 saves, each coming in the last two home games. In the end, Lehigh held the nation's third highest-scoring offense coming in exactly five goals below its average of 15. The 10 goals were tied for the Tigers' second lowest goal total of the season.

Saturday will mark Lehigh's final nonleague game of the season as the Mountain Hawks return home next Friday to host Bucknell at 7 p.m. in a big Patriot League contest with big implications for the league tournament.

Cornell enters the weekend 3-7 on the season, 2-2 in the Ivy League. The Big Red are coming off a 15-8 loss at No. 1 Syracuse on Tuesday. Last weekend, the Big Red earned a 12-9 win at Harvard. Jeff Teat leads the team in goals, assists and points with 21, 25 and 46, respectively. Connor Fletcher has tallied 26 points (18 goals, eight assists) while Clarke Petterson owns 18 (11 goals, seven assists). Paul Rasimowicz has taken the majority of faceoffs, winning 44.9 percent (84-of-187) with a team-high 36 groundballs. Brandon Salvatore owns 28 groundballs and a team-leading 16 caused turnovers. Christian Knight has started all 10 games in goal, recording a 13.43 goals against average and .465 save percentage.

Lehigh leads the all-time series with Cornell, 9-5-3. A consistent rival beginning in the 1890s, Lehigh won the first seven meetings spanning from 1893 to 1905. The teams tied in 1906 before Cornell beat Lehigh for the first time in 1913. The teams tied by identical 1-1 scores in both 1914 and 1915. The Big Red have won four straight games, including a 12-3 win in 2006, the first meeting between the schools since 1955. The sides then met last season for the first time in 10 years with Cornell posting a come-from-behind 13-12 victory at Goodman Stadium.

Following Saturday's game, the Mountain Hawks will return home next Friday to host Bucknell at 7 p.m. in the regular season finale and Senior Night. The game will likely have significant implications in the Patriot League Tournament picture as Lehigh vies for its seventh straight tournament appearance.
