BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh will host La Salle for the second time this season when the two teams meet at J. David Walker Field on Tuesday at 3 p.m. The Mountain Hawks and Explorers met up on March 29 in the first round of Liberty Bell Classic with La Salle claiming a 2-1 victory.
Lehigh (10-20) enter Tuesday's matchup on a three-game slide after dropping a Patriot League series at Holy Cross over the weekend. The Mountain Hawks will look to get back in the win column when they return to Walker Field where they are 6-4 this season. LU is 8-14 in non-conference contests this season and 3-4 in midweek games.
Since the last meeting with La Salle (6-23), the Mountain Hawks are 3-7 and own a .198 team batting average while scoring 3.3 runs per game. The Explorers are 3-5 since facing Lehigh and one of the wins came against Delaware in the semifinal round of the Liberty Bell Classic. The win propelled La Salle to a LBC Championship matchup with Penn on April 18 at Citizens Bank Park.
Matt Ratner will look to get the start for Lehigh on the mound on Tuesday. It will be the third start this season for the righty who has tossed 19.1 innings in eight appearances.
La Salle will roll out reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Mat Holt to face Lehigh for the second time this season. Holt went 4.2 innings and gave up one earned run on six hits with three strikeouts in his previous start against LU. In his last outing, the freshman started and threw six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts in a win over Delaware last Tuesday to earn his weekly award honors.
