
Lehigh Men Host NJIT Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's swimming and diving team will return to Jacobs Pool Saturday to take NJIT in a men's only dual starting at 1 p.m.
Lehigh (2-3) is back in action for the first time since defeating Loyola, 161-133, on October 28 for its first home and Patriot League win of the season. The Mountain Hawks compiled nine wins in the swimming events on the day, including one relay victory and also posted one diving victory on the day. Walker Wilson and Zach Tieke tore it up for the Mountain Hawks on the day as they each captured three individual victories on the day and contributed to a relay victory.
Wilson started things off for Lehigh with his first victory in the 1000 freestyle, before posting wins in the 200 freestyle and 200 backstroke. Tieke captured his second victory this season in the 50 freestyle before racking up wins in the 100 freestyle and 100 butterfly. The duo combined with Greg Giannella and Kian O'Brien to win the 400 freestyle relay in the final event of the day.
Croldy Veliz captured his first victory of the season by winning he one-meter diving competition with a personal-best score of 232.94.
The Highlanders (2-4) are coming off a 206-135 victor over north Jersey foe Saint Peter's and a 222-125 lost to Bryant in a tri-meet last weekend. The victory earned a season-split with the Peacocks.
Matheus Monteiro Montarroyos and Avery Bechtel enter Saturday's meet as the reigning Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Co-Swimmer of the Week and Diver of the Week, respectively. Montarroyos claimed three first place finishes in a pair of dual meets against Bryant and Saint Peter's last weekend. Bechtel earned Diver of the Week for the second consecutive week as he placed second in both the 1-meter dive (205.70) and the 3-meter dive (162.10) events last weekend.
The Mountain Hawks are 9-0 all-time against the Highlanders since the series began in the 2008-09 season. Lehigh won last year's meeting, 111-86, in Newark, N.J. and posted a 138-80 victory two years ago in the last meeting at Jacobs Pool.
