BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's soccer team will play host to the University of Pennsylvania in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday night. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex.
The Mountain Hawks enter Tuesday's contest with a 2-4 record and are looking to bounce back from a 2-1 loss at home last Saturday to Robert Morris. Lehigh is also still looking for its first home win of the season.
Last Saturday against Robert Morris, the Mountain Hawks fell behind 2-0 as the Colonials recorded tallies in the 55th and 63rd minutes. After RMU's second goal, Lehigh responded quickly with a tally in the 64th minute by Kevin Klinkenberg, but the offense struggled to produce more quality chances for the remainder of the game.
The goal by Klinkenberg was his first of the season. Mark Forrest recorded an assist last Saturday, which is his second of the season. Forrest now has 10 points through six games this season on four goals and two assists.
Penn is 1-1-3 on the season and is coming off its first win of the season with a 1-0 victory in double overtime last Saturday over Big 5 rival LaSalle. Sam Hefter recorded the game-winner for the Quakers in the 108th minute and is now the fifth different player on the team to score a goal this season. Penn has reached double overtime in four of its five games this season.
The Quakers own a 34-18-5 record against Lehigh in the all-time series. The two teams last met in 2011 at the Ulrich Sports Complex when Lehigh scored a goal in the 80th minute to come back from a 1-0 deficit and force a 1-1 draw.
Following Tuesday's match, the Mountain Hawks will travel to Holy Cross on Saturday for their 2016 Patriot League opener.
