BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Looking to carry the momentum from a big win last Friday while learning from a tough loss Sunday, the Lehigh field hockey team faces a tough test this weekend against a pair of strong Ivy League opponents. The Mountain Hawks travel to Penn on Friday (3:30 p.m.) before hosting Cornell on Sunday (2 p.m.). Both opponents were receiving votes in the NFHCA preseason national poll.

Both games can be viewed live online. Friday's game can be seen through the Ivy League Digital Network ($9.95 for a day pass) while Sunday's home contest will be streamed live through the Patriot League Network (free).

Lehigh opened its season last Friday with an impressive 2-1 win over Rider, the Mountain Hawks' first season-opening win since 2010 and first victory over the Broncs since 2007 (snapping a six-game losing streak). All the scoring came in the first half as goals from senior Marissa Glatt and sophomore Teresa Carotenuto, along with 10 saves from senior goalkeeper Julia Ward and a strong team defensive effort, was enough for the victory.

Two days later, the Mountain Hawks fell to Monmouth Sunday by a 5-0 final. Monmouth scored early and Lehigh could never get any momentum going. The Mountain Hawks fought until the end, earning several quality scoring chances down the stretch, but couldn't find the back of the net.

Friday is the season opener for Penn, who is coming off a sensational 13-3 season which saw the Quakers finish in a tie for second place in the Ivy League standings with a 5-2 league mark. The team's leading scorer from last season Alexa Hoover returns after posting monster numbers of 27 goals and nine assists for 63 points in 2015 to earn second team All-America honors. Penn's next two leading scorers don't return, but Eilse Tilton does after recording 15 points (five goals, five assists) in 2015. Returnee Liz Matia was the primary goalkeeper last season, recording a 1.67 goals against average and .689 save percentage.

The Quakers lead the all-time series with Penn, 12-1-1. The teams didn't play last season, but two years ago, Penn picked up a 9-1 win. The meeting before that, Penn earned a hard-fought 5-4 victory. Lehigh's win against the Quakers came in 2011 by an exciting 4-3 final.

Cornell opens its season at home vs. Colgate on Saturday before heading to Lehigh Sunday. The Big Red finished last season 11-6 and 5-2 in the Ivy League, tied with Penn in the league standings. After two straight losses to begin 2015, Cornell ended the season by 11 of its final 15 games. Four of the team's five leading scorers return, led by Krysten Mayers who posted 31 points (14 goals, three assists) a season ago. Isabel Siergiej finished with 22 points (5 goals, team-leading 12 assists), Katy Weeks had 21 points (eight goals, five assists) and Katie Carlson recorded 15 points (five goals, five assists). The team's primary goalkeeper Kelly Johnson returns after posting a 2.08 GAA and .597 save percentage last season. Johnson played 842:04 while Mackenzie Gagliardi was stellar in 308:05 of action, recording a 0.68 GAA and .800 save percentage.

Cornell leads the all-time series, 21-1-1 with Lehigh's lone win coming in 1993 by a 2-1 final. The last meeting came in 2014 by a 6-0 final.

The Mountain Hawks return to action on Friday when they travel to Penn to face the Quakers. Gametime is set for 3:30 p.m.
