
Lehigh opens Patriot League Tournament against Colgate Friday at noon

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's tennis team is set to host the Patriot League Tournament this weekend and the fifth-seeded Mountain Hawks will open their postseason run at 12 p.m. Friday against No. 4 Colgate inside the Lewis Tennis Center. All of Friday's quarterfinal matches have been moved indoors to the Lewis Tennis Center due to the threat of inclement weather and a revised quarterfinal schedule is listed below.
The Mountain Hawks earned the No. 5 seed in the tournament after finishing the regular season with a 14-5 overall record and 5-3 mark against Patriot League opponents. Lehigh earned Patriot League wins over Loyola (7-0), Colgate (4-3), Bucknell (4-3), Lafayette (7-0) and Holy Cross (7-0), while the Mountain Hawks dropped matches to Navy (4-3), Army (4-1) and Boston University (4-1).
Sophomore Jack Petersen has led Lehigh with a 16-2 overall singles record that includes a 7-1 mark against league opponents. Junior Colin Nardella has gone 6-1 in Patriot League singles, while senior Jeremy Kochman has picked up five wins at the top flight of singles. Freshman George Cooper leads the Mountain Hawks with a 6-1 doubles record against league opponents, while Petersen has picked up five league doubles victories.
Colgate was awarded the No. 4 seed in the Patriot League Tournament thanks to its 4-2 Patriot League record and 13-6 overall mark. The Raiders earned league wins over Holy Cross (7-0), Bucknell (4-1), Lafayette (7-0) and Loyola (7-0), while dropping matches to Boston University (4-3) and Lehigh (4-3).
Lehigh and Colgate met on April 2 at the Ulrich Varsity Courts. Colgate earned the doubles point, but the Mountain Hawks won four of six singles matches to rally for a 4-3 win over the Raiders. Junior Ethan Bogard clinched the match for Lehigh at No. 6 singles, while Cooper and Petersen won both their doubles and singles matches.
The Patriot League Tournament opens Thursday with the 8-9 match between Lafayette and Holy Cross. The winner of that match will face defending champion and top-seeded Navy in Friday's opening quarterfinal at 9 a.m. The other two quarterfinal matches will feature No. 3 Boston University vs. No. 6 Bucknell and No. 2 Army vs. No. 7 Loyola.
The Lehigh-Colgate winner will face the winner of the Navy/8-9 in Saturday's first semifinal at 10 a.m. Sunday's championship match is set for 12 p.m. A full tournament schedule is listed below.
