Lehigh earns 7-0 win at Holy Cross in regular-season finale

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Lehigh men's tennis team wrapped up the regular season with a 7-0 road victory at Holy Cross Saturday afternoon. The Mountain Hawks finish the regular season with a 14-5 overall record and 5-3 mark against Patriot League opponents, while Holy Cross falls to 1-9 overall and 0-5 against league foes.
Juniors Colin Nardella and Ethan Bogard opened doubles action with a 6-2 win at the third flight before freshman George Cooper and sophomore Jack Petersen secured the doubles point for Lehigh with a 6-2 victory at the second flight. Senior Jeremy Kochman and junior Tyler Hansen nailed down the doubles sweep with a 6-3 win at the top flight.
Kochman opened singles action with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win over Michael Varda at the top flight to give Lehigh a 2-0 match lead. Cooper followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the third flight before Nardella clinched the match for Lehigh with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Jimmy Ye at No. 4 singles.
Hansen earned a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles before Petersen grabbed a 6-3, 6-1 victory at the second flight. Bogard wrapped up the 7-0 sweep by battling for a 7-6 (4), 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.
The Mountain Hawks will now begin preparations for next weekend's Patriot League Tournament. Lehigh will host the four-day tournament beginning Thursday and running through Sunday at the Ulrich Varsity Courts.
