BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh baseball team will see its first local action when the Mountain Hawks head to Villanova for a Wednesday matchup. First pitch from the Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth is slated for 2:45 p.m.

The Mountain Hawks are 3-3 overall and will be looking to bounce back from a tough weekend at Marshall. The Thundering Herd used a three-run eighth inning to capture a 4-2 win in the series opener Saturday before Marshall picked up a 12-6 win in game two of the series Sunday. The Herd then scored the final two runs in the finale to claim a 6-4 victory. Prior to the Marshall series, the Mountain Hawks opened the season with a three-game sweep of Norfolk State.

Junior David Young has led Lehigh offensively so far this season with a .440 batting average. Young is one of just 18 qualifying players in Division I to have not struck out this season. Junior Patrick Donnelly follows with a .385 batting average and team-best six RBI, while classmate Connor Donovan (.350) and senior Mike Garzillo (.333) are also hitting above .300. Three different Mountain Hawks have made starts on the mound this season, while nine others have made appearances out of the Lehigh bullpen. The pitching staff has combined to strike out 42 batters through Lehigh's six games.

Villanova is 2-9 so far this season and will host Delaware State Tuesday afternoon before welcoming Lehigh Wednesday. The Wildcats have dropped their last four games and are coming off an 0-3 weekend against Stetson, Central Michigan and Illinois in Deland, Fla. Villanova is batting .227 as a team and the Wildcats are led by Todd Czinege's .362 batting average, eight RBI and seven runs scored. Czinege is the only Wildcat hitting over .300 as Donovan May and David Gulati follow with .250 averages. Villanova holds a 5.60 team ERA compared to its opponents' 3.99 ERA. Ryan Doty and Jonathan Rosero have picked up Villanova's wins on the mound, while Kagan Richardson has secured a save.

The Lehigh-Villanova all-time series dates back to 1898, but the two teams haven't met since the 2011 season. The Wildcats earned a 5-2 win in the most recent meeting and hold a 40-12 all-time advantage over the Mountain Hawks.

Following Wednesday's game, Lehigh will face Fairleigh Dickinson in a four-game weekend series. A Saturday doubleheader will be played at FDU before the Mountain Hawks make their home debut at Legacy Park Sunday with a 12 p.m. doubleheader against the Knights.
