PRINCETON, N.J. – Seeds and brackets for the 112th EIWA Championships were announced Friday evening following a meeting of the conference's head coaches. Nine of Lehigh's 10 tournament entrants earned top 8 seeds, including six wrestlers earning No. 2 seeds and two seeded third. Lehigh's seeds were unchanged from the consensus pre-seeds released Thursday evening.

All four of Lehigh's senior starters earned No. 2 seeds: Mason Beckman (133), Nathaniel Brown (184), John Bolich (197) and Max Wessell (285), along with sophomore Darian Cruz (125) and freshman Ryan Preisch (165).

The brackets released Friday have Beckman slated to face Bucknell's Grimaldi Gonzalez in the opening round. Gonzalez upset Beckman 7-6 in the season-opening dual at Bucknell on November 6.

Nathaniel Brown will open with Columbia's Mike Fetchet while Bolich drew Josh Murphy from Drexel. Wessell will face Penn's Patrik Garren in the round of 16. Wessell beat Garren 11-4 at the Palestra on January 10.

Darian Cruz will likely be the first Mountain Hawk up on the mats on Saturday when he takes on Sacred Heart's Gerard Daly. Cruz beat Daly 5-3 in the finals of the Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open on November 8. Preisch's EIWA Tournament debut will come against Navy's Michael Coleman.

Juniors Randy Cruz and Laike Gardner earned No. 3 seeds at 141 and 149, respectively. Cruz will have a tough opening test in his bid to win a third EIWA title as he drew Dylan Realbuto of Cornell in the opening round. Gardner's first match will be against Harvard's Patrick Hogan.

On the strength of a 23-8 record, freshman Ian Brown earned a seed at 157 despite being an injury replacement for junior Mitch Minotti. Brown is seeded sixth and will face Jahlani Callender of Hofstra in his first match.

The only unseeded Mountain Hawk is freshman Gordon Wolf at 174. Wolf drew the No. 2 seed Casey Kent of Penn in the first round.

The 112th EIWA Championships get underway Saturday at 9 a.m. from Princeton's Jadwin Gym with the first round and quarterfinals plus two rounds of consolations. Session two, featuring the semifinals, third round consolations, consolation semifinals and seventh place matches is set for Sunday at 10 a.m., while Sunday's finals session featuring matches for first, third and fifth place, will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will be preceded by the EIWA Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
