
Lehigh wraps up regular season at Colgate Wednesday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Lehigh women's basketball team looks to close out the regular season on a high note Wednesday when the Mountain Hawks head to Colgate for a 7 p.m. contest. The outcome of the Lehigh-Colgate game, along with other league action, will determine seeding for the Patriot League Tournament. The Mountain Hawks have already locked up a home quarterfinal game Monday. A win at Colgate would secure to No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Tournament. A loss would open Lehigh up to being the No. 4 seed depending on other results from around the league.
The Mountain Hawks, 17-11 overall, are currently in a three-way tie for third place in the Patriot League standings with a 10-7 league record. Loyola and Holy Cross are also 10-7 in Patriot League play. Lehigh looks to bounce back from a tough 69-49 loss to first-place Army Saturday night in the Mountain Hawks' most recent action. Junior Lexi Martins scored the 1,000th point of her career in the loss to the Black Knights and also led Lehigh with her 22nd double-double of the season behind 18 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Kerry Kinek followed with 11 points, while sophomore Quinci Mann chipped in seven.
Martins leads the team for the season with 15.2 points and 13.9 rebounds per contest, a mark that ranks first in the nation. Her 22 double-doubles are third-most in all of Division I. Mann follows with 13.3 points per contest and a team-best 53 three-pointers. Kinek has chipped in 11.5 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. As a team, Lehigh is averaging 67.4 points per game and shooting 40.6 percent from the field.
Colgate sits in a two-way tie for last place in the Patriot League standings with a 3-14 league record that is part of a 5-22 overall mark. The Raiders are coming off a 70-55 win over Lafayette Saturday. Colgate started the contest shooting just 1-for-14 from the field, but rallied to shoot 38.5 percent for the game. Josie Stockill led Colgate with 18 points and 16 rebounds, while Katie Curtis chipped in 15 points and Paige Krifcher followed with 10. Colgate completed the season sweep of Lafayette with the win. The Raiders' other league victory was against Boston University (72-63) on Jan. 20.
Kriftcher and Stockill lead Colgate for the season with 12.2 points per game, while Curtis follows with 9.0 points per contest. Stockill has also chipped in 7.3 rebounds per game. As a team, the Raiders average 57.2 points per game and are shooting 34.2 percent from the field, 28.1 percent from three-point range and 73.2 percent from the free throw line. Colgate has been outscored by an average of 11.5 points per game this season and the Raiders hold a -4.9 rebound margin.

The Mountain Hawks used a 17-3 third-quarter run to pull away from the Raiders and keep the lead for good. Four Mountain Hawks scored in double-figures for the first time since Jan. 13 as Martins led the team with her 21st double-double of the season. Martins finished the game with 19 points and 14 rebounds thanks to a 6-for-8 showing from the field and 7-for-10 effort from the free throw line. Mann also contributed 19 points, while sophomore Bernadette Devaney added a career-high 12 points. Senior Elizabeth Sharlow tallied 10 points and six rebounds. Kinek added nine points, while sophomore Taylor Campbell posted a career-high eight in Lehigh's balanced scoring attack. Colgate was led by Ariel Etheridge with 21 points and Curtis with 17 points.
Lehigh finished the game shooting 44.4 percent (24-for-54) from the field, 38.9 percent (7-for-18) from three-point range and 82.4 percent (28-for-34) from the free throw line. The Mountain Hawks held a 41-38 rebound advantage.
