Lehigh hosts first-place Army on Senior Night Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's basketball team will play it final regular-season home game Saturday night in Stabler Arena when the Mountain Hawks host first-place Army West Point at 7:30 p.m. The program's four seniors, Amina Affini, Elizabeth Jordan, Kerry Kinek and Elizabeth Sharlow, will be honored on Senior Night prior to the start of the game. The game will not be televised on Service Electric, but free video will be available online via the Patriot League Network. Audio coverage will be live on ESPN Radio of the Lehigh Valley.
 
14858Fans in attendance are encouraged to check into the game on the Mountain Hawk Rewards app, which can be downloaded in the App Store and on Google Play, for a chance to win $500. One lucky fan who checks into the game in the first half will be picked to take a half-court shot at halftime for the chance to win $500. In addition to Senior Night and the $500 half-court shot challenge, Saturday's game will also be LGBTQ Awareness Night.
 
The Mountain Hawks are 10-6 in Patriot League play and 17-10 overall and Lehigh has already locked up a first-round bye for the Patriot League Tournament. The Mountain Hawks are currently in third place in the Patriot League standings with a one-game lead on Loyola, Holy Cross and Navy who are all 9-7 in league play. The final two regular-season games will determine seeding for the Patriot League Tournament as each team vies for home-court advantage.
 
Lehigh has won its last two games, including an 83-74 win over Colgate in the Mountain Hawks' most recent action Wednesday night. Lehigh used a 17-3 third-quarter run to pull away from the visiting Raiders and keep the lead for good. Junior Lexi Martins led the team with her 21st double-double of the season with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Sophomore Quinci Mann also contributed 19 points.
 
Martins, who leads the nation in rebounds per game (14.0), enters Saturday's game just 13 points shy of her 1,000th career point and 13 rebounds shy of setting a new Patriot League single-season rebound record.
 
Army enters Saturday's game tied for first place in the Patriot League standings with a 15-1 league record that is part of a 24-2 overall mark. The Black Knights are tied atop the league standings with Bucknell. Army and Bucknell's only league losses came against each other.
 
The Black Knights carry a 14-game winning streak into Stabler Arena Saturday. Army's last loss was on Jan. 2 at Bucknell as the Black Knights fell 79-69. Army's only other loss this season was at #14/9 Duke (72-61) on Nov. 22. Army earned a 72-38 win over Boston University in its most recent action Wednesday evening.
 
As a team, Army leads the Patriot League in a number of statistical categories including scoring offense (69.7 ppg), scoring defense (50.0 ppg), scoring margin (+19.7 ppg), field goal percentage (44.6), field goal percentage defense (34.6), three-point field goal percentage (41.0), three-point field goal percentage defense (25.3) and assists (14.8 apg).
 
Kelsey Minato leads the Patriot League and ranks sixth nationally with an average of 23.4 points per game. The two-time Patriot League Player of the year also ranks second in the country with a 48.8 three-point field goal percentage. Aimee Oertner follows Minato with 9.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
 
Lehigh and Army met in the season's Patriot League opener on Dec. 30, 2015 in West Point, N.Y. and the Black Knights were able to earn a 63-39 victory. The Mountain Hawks hold a slim 30-29 all-time advantage over Army. Lehigh is 17-8 against Army at home in regular season games compared to the Mountain Hawks' 9-19 record at Army.
 
The Black Knights held Lehigh to a season-low 39 points and 28.8 percent field goal percentage in the season's first meeting. Mann led the Mountain Hawks with 13 points, while Martins followed with ten points and eight rebounds. Kinek chipped in eight points and eight boards. Army was led by Janae McNeal with 20 points and Minato with 19 points.
 
The Mountain Hawks finished the game shooting 28.8 percent (15-for-52) from the field, highlighted by a 45.8 percent (11-for-24) second-half mark. Lehigh was just 1-for-12 (8.3 percent) from three-point range and 47.1 percent (8-for-17) from the free-throw line. Lehigh held Army to a 27.6 (8-for-29) first-half field goal percentage, but the Black Knights shot 63.0 percent (17-for-27) in the second half to finish the game with a mark of 44.6 percent (25-for-56).
 
Following Saturday's game, the Mountain Hawks will wrap up the regular season at Colgate Wednesday at 7 p.m.
