Mountain Hawks remain home to host Colgate and Towson this weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following two wins last weekend, the Lehigh field hockey team looks to continue the momentum on Saturday when it hosts Colgate (11 a.m.) before welcoming Towson on Sunday (12 p.m.). The Mountain Hawks are coming off a pair of one-goal wins over Holy Cross and Siena.
Lehigh got back on track by pitching its first-ever shutout against the Crusaders and the program's first shutout against any opponent since 2013. Senior Marissa Glatt scored the game's only goal less than 10 minutes into the second half while the defense allowed just 10 shots, only four of which were on goal. The Mountain Hawks improved to 1-2 in Patriot League play, heading into this Saturday's big matchup vs. Colgate.
Lehigh went on to earn a 4-3 overtime win over Siena on Sunday as sophomore Lauren Dice scored a career-high two goals, including the game-winning overtime goal on a penalty stroke. The Mountain Hawks outshot the Saints, 36-9. After entering the weekend with a season-high of 11 shots, Lehigh fired 17 shots on Saturday and 36 on Sunday.
Colgate enters the weekend 1-11 on the season, 0-3 in league play. The Raiders are coming off a 4-0 loss to Lafayette last Saturday while their win came 1-0 over Bryant in the season opener. Whitney Jones leads the team with two goals and four points on the season while Emily Brash, Kayla Robinson and Molly Klare have scored the team's other goals. Maria Krull has played every minute goal, owning a .738 save percentage and 4.07 goals against average.
The Mountain Hawks earned a 2-1 overtime win at Colgate last season to snap a three-game losing streak in the all-time series. The Raiders hold a 19-14-1 all-time edge. Lehigh's last home win against Colgate came in 2011 by a 2-1 final. The teams alternated wins from 2004 through 2012 in a highly-competitive series.
The Tigers stand 2-9 entering a Friday matchup against Hofstra. Towson's wins have come against La Salle (2-1) and LIU Brooklyn (3-1). Since their second win, the Tigers have dropped three straight games, most recently falling at No. 19 James Madison. Lexi Butler leads Towson in points with seven behind three goals and one assist while Devon Hoke owns five points (one goal, three assists) and Sabrina Davis has four (two goals). Emilee Woodall has started all but one game in goal, owning a .774 save percentage and 5.23 GAA.
Lehigh leads Towson, 13-1 in the all-time series. Last season, the Tigers earned their first-ever win against Lehigh by a 4-2 final. The last time the teams played in Bethlehem, the Mountain Hawks pulled out a 2-1 overtime victory.
Following this weekend, the Mountain Hawks head to Massachusetts next weekend to face Boston University on Saturday (Oct. 15) and UMass-Lowell on Sunday (Oct. 16).
