BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Following an extended layoff from games, the Lehigh field hockey team returns to action for a big weekend when it travels to archrival Lafayette on Friday (7 p.m.) and hosts Brown on Sunday (1 p.m.) for Senior Day. Both games will be broadcast live, for free, on the Patriot League Network. The Mountain Hawks need a win on Friday to give themselves a chance at their first Patriot League Tournament berth since 2011. Despite a tough trip to Massachusetts two weekends ago, Lehigh has won four of its last six games and looks to end the regular season on a high note.

Friday's game is meaningful on multiple fronts. The Mountain Hawks are eying their first win against the Leopards since 2005 while they're also vying for a postseason berth. Lehigh would earn a Patriot League Tournament berth with a win and Bucknell loss to Colgate. If the Mountain Hawks and Bison both win, it would create a three-way tie for third place in the league standings, with only two of the teams advancing to the tournament. Lehigh knows it must win on Friday to give itself a chance at the postseason.

Two weekends ago, the Mountain Hawks hung tough against No. 14 Boston University in the first half. Lehigh held a high-powered offense scoreless until there was just 1:01 remaining in the first half, but the Terriers proved too much in the second, defeating the Mountain Hawks 5-0. Lehigh went onto a tough defeat at UMass-Lowell the following day.

Lafayette stands 7-9 on the season, 2-3 in Patriot League play. The Leopards defeated a tough Boston University squad at home, along with winning at Bucknell last weekend. The team has lost six straight overall, but three of those games have come against nationally-ranked opponents. Amanda Magadan leads the team in scoring with 16 points behind seven goals and two assists while Rosa Jonckheer (four goals) and Lisa van der Geest (two goals, four assists) each own eight points. Katelyn Arnold has played every minute in goal, tallying a 2.68 goals against average and .650 save percentage.

The Leopards lead the all-time series 38-12-3, which includes 13 straight wins. Lehigh's last win came in 2015. Last season was an extremely competitive game, as Lafayette won 2-1. The Leopards scored at the 24:26 mark; the Mountain Hawks responded just 20 seconds later, but a second-half Lafayette goal was the difference.

Brown enters a Saturday game at Penn with a 7-7 overall record and 2-3 mark in the Ivy League. The Bears snapped a five-game losing streak on Sunday with a 2-1 win at Holy Cross. Jaclyn Torres leads the team in goals (6) and points (12) while Gina Openshaw has 10 points (four goals, two assists). Katie Hammaker has started all 14 games in goal, owning a 2.19 GAA and .723 save percentage.

The Bears lead the all-time series against Lehigh, 3-1. Brown has won each of the last two seasons, both at home, 4-2 in 2014 and 3-0 last season.
