BETHLEHEM, Pa. – On the heels of the program's 13th Patriot League Championship and eighth NCAA Tournament appearance, the Lehigh softball teams will play eight out-of-season games at Leadership Park this fall as head coach Fran Troyan announced the Mountain Hawks' fall schedule.
Lehigh will play four doubleheaders, beginning September 20 at its still-new facility which opened last April and hosted just four regular season games plus six contests in the Patriot League Tournament.
The Mountain Hawks posted their fifth 40-win season in school history, going 40-9, including the program's seventh NCAA Tournament win and first since 2009 with a 3-0 shutout of Central Arkansas in the NCAA Norman Regional.
The fall slate begins with a September 20 doubleheader against Saint Joseph's and continues two weeks later against Princeton. The Mountain Hawks will also host Rutgers for two games on October 18 before closing out the fall with a doubleheader against Monmouth on October 24.
Admission is free for all eight games at Leadership Park.
The Mountain Hawks lost four players to graduation including two-time Patriot League Pitcher of the Year and 2015 Patriot League Tournament MVP Emily Bausher to graduation, but Troyan welcomes a strong class of four freshmen that features catcher/utility Brianna Gerhardt, outfielder Ashley Quidolit, pitcher Emily Sorem and outfielder/first baseman Jennifer Stoll.
Lehigh returns seven of its nine All-Patriot League selections from a year ago including seniors Alexis Watanabe, Morgan Decker, Jessica Calvini and MacKenzie Velasquez, along with juniors Christine Campbell and Vicky Lattanzio, and sophomore Nicole Yozzo, the reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Year.
