PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Lehigh men's golf team posted a pair of rounds under 300 on day one of the Rutgers Invitational Friday at the Rutgers University Golf Course. The Mountain Hawks shot 297 in the morning and 294 in the afternoon and currently sit in seventh place in a 14-team field at 591.

The Mountain Hawks' scoring team consisted of four freshmen and a sophomore. Freshman Jonathan Hsu fired the low round of the day for the Mountain Hawks, carding an even par 71 in the second round. Hsu leads the Mountain Hawks in a tie for 20th place at 146 (75-71) after day one.

Sophomore Billy Johns was the second lowest Lehigh player Friday as he sits in 26th place at 147 (74-73).

Lehigh's low player in the first round was freshman Eamon Marone, who opened with a two over par 73 and then shot 75 in the afternoon. Marone is tied for 30th place at 148.

Also scoring for the Mountain Hawks were freshmen Lee Hammerschmidt and Max Redetzke. Hammerschmidt shot back to back rounds of 75 and is tied for 38th place, while Redetzke is tied for 48th at 153 (76-77).

Senior Dave Olexson competed as an individual and bounced back from a tough opening round 83 with a solid 75 in the afternoon. Olexson is tied for 73rd place at 158.

Towson leads the team race by eight strokes over host Rutgers at 561 (277-284), while La Salle is third at 575.

The Tigers' Ryan Siegler holds the individual lead at seven under par 135 (66-69). He leads La Salle's PJ Aciemo by one stroke. Aciemo is four shots clear of four individuals in third place.

The Rutgers Invitational concludes Saturday with the final 18 holes beginning at 7:30 a.m.
