BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lehigh men's lacrosse team looks to get right back into the thick of the Patriot League standings when the Mountain Hawks host Army in a big Saturday afternoon showdown. Opening faceoff at the Ulrich Sports Complex is set for 1 p.m. and will be televised nationally on the American Sports Network. Saturday features a rematch of the 2014 Patriot League Semifinals, which the Mountain Hawks won in thrilling fashion, 12-11.

The game will be televised by several outlets across the country, including The Comcast Network in Philadelphia, which is Channel 27 on Service Electric in the Lehigh Valley. The game will also be streamed through the Patriot League Network.

Tickets for Saturday's game are only five dollars for the general public and can be purchased in advance at LehighTickets.com. Students, faculty and staff are admitted free with their Lehigh ID. The Goodman Bus Service will run at 12:15 p.m. and 12:45 p.m. and will leave from the Dialogue Center on Taylor Street (between Taylor Street and Grace Hall). Following the men's game on Saturday, the Lehigh women's lacrosse team hosts Loyola at 4 p.m.

The preseason #2 and 3 teams in the Patriot League preseason poll have struggled through one month of league play. Lehigh is 1-3 while Army is 1-2. The Mountain Hawks have been extremely close in their league defeats, falling by three at Loyola and just one against Bucknell and at Navy. The Black Knights lost to Holy Cross by just one and Loyola by only two.

Lehigh is coming off a 10-4 loss to #5/6 Denver on Tuesday in a game which featured several bright spots. The Mountain Hawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead less than nine minutes into the game, but the Pioneers used a pair of 5-0 runs to account for their 10 goals. Junior Reid Weber scored his second goal of the game early in the fourth quarter, then Lehigh had several opportunities to pull even, but the Mountain Hawks couldn't net the equalizer. Denver responded with a 5-0 run over the game's final 4:44.

The Lehigh defense, which has been up and down this season, looked dominant in stretches against a potent Denver offense. The Mountain Hawks held the Pioneers scoreless for the game's first 17:34 then again for 28:13 and allowed just six even-strength goals all evening. The Pioneers' 10 goals tied for their fewest scored all season. Freshman Adam Sawicki was stellar in goal in his first-career start, making 11 saves including stopping all five shots on goal in the first quarter. Junior Casey Eidenshink tallied two caused turnovers, as did senior Dan Taylor. Lehigh impressed in the riding game, forcing six failed clear attempts by the Pioneers, who finished 13-of-19 on clears.

Saturday's game features two of the top active point-getters in all of Division I men's lacrosse. Taylor and John Glesener of Army are currently tied for fifth, each owning 179 career points.

Army won five of its first six games, with the only loss coming to current #1 Syracuse, but the Black Knights have dropped a pair of Patriot League games on consecutive Saturdays. The first was a 7-6 defeat at Holy Cross before falling 12-10 at home vs. Loyola last weekend when Greyhounds freshman goalie Grant Limone made 18 saves. Cole Johnson leads the team in scoring with 22 goals and 30 points. Glesener has 16 goals and 12 assists for 28 points, taking a team-high 74 shots. Connor Cook is next with 18 points (16 goals, two assists) while Alex Newsome has 14 (six goals, eight assists) and Jimbo Moore owns 11 (six goals, five assists). Alex Daly has taken the most faceoffs, winning 55.0 percent (44-of-80) with a team-leading 23 groundballs. Jimbo D'Aprile owns a team-leading nine caused turnovers, to go with 21 groundballs. Sam Somers has started all eight games in goal, tallying a 7.19 GAA and .551 save percentage.

Lehigh has won three of the last four meetings against Army, including a thrilling 12-11 Patriot League Semifinal victory last April as Weber scored with just 3.7 seconds remaining to send his squad to the championship game. Army won the regular season meeting, 6-5. Prior to that, the Mountain Hawks had won three straight, 7-6, 13-7 then 10-6. Six of Lehigh's seven wins all-time against Army have come in the last 11 meetings. Army won the first-ever meeting in 1922 by a 4-1 final. The sides didn't reconvene until 1990, a 15-11 Army victory. Lehigh's first win was in 1999 (13-9). The last four meetings between Lehigh and Army have come on the road or at a neutral site. The last game between the sides in Bethlehem was in 2012, a 7-6 Mountain Hawks' victory.

Lehigh returns to action at Monmouth Tuesday in a game that will air live online through ESPN3. The Mountain Hawks return to league play next Saturday (Mar. 28) at Holy Cross.
