Patriot League Release | Louisville Slugger Players of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh baseball senior Nick Macaione has been named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week and the Patriot League Co-Pitcher of the Week, as announced on Monday. The lefty threw the first nine innings of Lehigh's 11-inning no-hitter Saturday in a 2-0 win over Iona.

Macaione struck out four while giving up just one walk and hitting two batters in nine hitless, scoreless innings before giving way to junior Kevin Boswick who threw a pair of hitless innings to complete Lehigh's first no-no since 2010 and fourth since 1960. The two Mountain Hawks combined to throw the 12th no-hitter in Patriot League history and third combined effort.

Macaione shares the Patriot League Co-Pitcher of the Week award with Army's Alex Robinett who also hurled a no-hitter this weekend. The two Patriot Leaguers are the first league pitchers this century to throw nine no-hit innings.

Senior Justin Pacchioli earned honorable mention recognition for Patriot League Player of the Week for his efforts over the weekend.  The Easton, Pa. native picked the right time to record his first career homerun when he delivered a two-run, walk-off shot over the leftfield fence  Saturday to propel Lehigh to the 11-inning, 2-0 win over Iona and secure the no-hitter for Macaione and Boswick. Pacchioli batted .438 (7-for-16) with five runs scored in four games over the weekend.

Macaione and the Mountain Hawks return to action when Lehigh heads to Port Charlotte, Fla. for an eight-game Spring Break trip from March 8-14.
