Mountain Hawks head to Bucknell for final meet before league championship

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's and women's track and field teams will compete in their final meet before Patriot League Championships Friday at the Bucknell Tune-Up. Action gets underway with the weight throw at 5 p.m. and concludes with the 4x400 meter relay at 9:10 p.m. from Bucknell's Gerhard Fieldhouse.
The Mountain Hawk men have seen continued success throughout the season, most recently at Yale's Giegengack Invitational last weekend. Senior Adeolu Adesida claimed another high jump title with an IC4A-qualifying leap of 2.12 meters and earned his third Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week award of the season. Senior Benjamin Beauchamp picked up a Lehigh victory in the weight throw with a heave of 16.95 meters. Sophomore Lucas Warning claimed the top spot in the shot put with a heave of 15.54 meters. Freshman Fritz Isaac earned first place in the triple jump with a leap of 13.98 meters, while senior Christopher Watson ran 800 meters in an IC4A-qualifying time of 1:54.48 to earn second place.
The sprinters led the way at last year's Bucknell Tune-Up as Justin Mahoney claimed a victory in the 400 meter dash with an impressive time of 49.82 and Watson won the 800 meter run after finishing in 1:55.63.
The Lehigh women put together a strong team showing at last weekend's Giegengack Invite, headlined by another school record from junior Elizabeth Weiler. Weiler set a new Lehigh record for the second consecutive weekend, this time in the 3,000 meter run, after crossing the finish line in an ECAC-qualifying time of 9:45.18 and earning first place. Sophomore Courtney Avery continued her impressive season with a first-place finish in the high jump after recording an ECAC-qualifying leap of 1.74 meters.
The Lehigh women impressed at last year's Bucknell Tune-Up as Ashley Strysko claimed her first collegiate win with a time of 5:19.51 in the mile run. Avery grabbed a first-place finish in the high jump with a leap of 1.65 meters. Courtney Wu claimed her first collegiate win in the triple jump with a new personal-best mark of 11.10 meters.
Following this weekend's Bucknell Tune-Up, the Mountain Hawks head to Navy next weekend for the Patriot League Championships.
