BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Lehigh women's basketball team is set to take on first-place American in a key Patriot League battle Wednesday inside Stabler Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. and tickets are available at Lehightickets.com or by calling 610-7LU-GAME. The Mountain Hawks look to hand the Eagles their first league loss of the season and take over first place in the Patriot League standings.

Lehigh is coming off its first loss of league play, and just its third defeat of the season, Saturday at Loyola. The Mountain Hawks struggled offensively and scored a season-low 52 points to go along with a season-low 32.3 shooting percentage as the Greyhounds captured a 64-52 victory in Baltimore.

Senior Katie O'Reilly led Lehigh with a career-high 21 points. Junior Kerry Kinek recorded a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, while sophomore Lexi Martins followed with nine points and 13 boards. O'Reilly, Kinek and Martins combined to score 42 of Lehigh's 52 points.

The Mountain Hawks shot a season-low 32.3 percent (20-for-62) from the field and were just 1-for-14 from three-point range (7.1 percent). The Greyhounds were 39.7 percent (23-for-58) from the floor and 35 percent from downtown (7-for-20). Lehigh turned the ball over 20 times, 15 of which came in the first half, which led to 20 Loyola points. The Mountain Hawks won the battle of the boards 47-33, including a 19-6 edge on the offensive glass. Loyola was led by Diana Logan with 20 points.

Despite the cold offensive performance Saturday, Lehigh still leads the league in a number of offensive categories including scoring offense (74.3 ppg), field goal percentage (46.6) and three-point field goal percentage (35.0).

The Eagles enter Wednesday's contest with a 9-6 overall record that includes a perfect 4-0 Patriot League mark. American has won four-straight games and six of its last seven contests. The Eagles are 5-3 on the road this season, with three of those wins coming during Patriot League play.

American captured a 66-58 victory at Colgate Saturday in the team's most recent action. Senior Jen Dumiak led the team with 20 points, including a career-best four three-pointers and halftime buzzer beater. Dumiak earned Patriot League Player of the Week recognition for her efforts. Junior Michelle Holmes added 16 points and nine rebounds for the Eagles, while senior Arron Zimmerman scored a season-high 14 points.

The Eagles led for most of the second half, but did not pull away until the final four minutes, when a three-point play by Zimmerman gave AU a 57-51 advantage and the momentum going down the stretch. American pushed its lead to double-digits after back-to-back scores by Jordan Light and Holmes with less than two minutes left to play to secure the win.

The Eagles average 62.8 points per game compared to their opponents' 62.5. Dumiak leads the team with 17 points per game to go along with five rebounds and a league-leading average of 6.3 assists per game.

The Eagles won both of last season's meetings between Lehigh and American and hold a 22-12 all-time advantage over the Mountain Hawks.

Lehigh controlled a 31-26 lead at halftime in the last meeting between the two teams on Feb. 12, 2014 in Stabler Arena, but the Eagles outscored the Mountain Hawks 43-25 in the second half to pick up a 69-56 victory. Kinek led Lehigh with 17 points, followed by O'Reilly and Elizabeth Sharlow with nine apiece. American's Alexis Dobbs and Zimmerman each chipped in 19 for the Eagles, while Shaquilla Curtis followed with 13.

The Mountain Hawks finished the game shooting 42.2 percent (19-for-45) from the field, 33.3 percent (5-for-15) from downtown and 81.3 percent (13-for-16) from the charity stripe. Lehigh made 4-of-8 shots from beyond the arc in the first half, but just 1-of-7 in the closing half. The Eagles shot 35% (21-for-60) from the field and converted 23-of-27 chances from the charity stripe. American sunk four second-half three pointers and shot 40.6 percent (13-for-32) from the field in its strong second half.

Following Wednesday's game, the Mountain Hawks hit the road for a pair of league contests at Holy Cross and Navy. The Mountain Hawks travel to Holy Cross Saturday at 1 p.m. before heading to Navy at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Both games can be viewed for free on the Patriot League Network.
