North-South Game Rosters

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh men's lacrosse senior Ty Souders has been named to the South team for the 73rd annual USILA/LaxWorld Division-II Senior North-South Game. The game will be played next Monday, May 26 at 10 a.m. in Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens. The Division I National Championship Game is set for 1 p.m. that day.

Souders will become Lehigh's 10th participant in the prestigious All-Star game over the past four years. David DiMaria, Dante Fantoni, Mike Noone and Ryan Snyder played last year, Adam Johnston, Cameron Lao-Gosney and Roman Lao-Gosney participated in 2012 and Will Scudder and Jonathan Stumpf played in 2011.

Souders will join five fellow Patriot Leaguers on the south team: Kevin Ryan and Jack Runkel of Loyola, Jackson Place and Todd Heritage of Bucknell, and Pat Kiernan of Navy.

A two-time All-American and three-time All-Patriot League honoree, Souders is a finalist for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award. The winner will be announced this coming weekend. The Emmaus High School graduate posted a career-high 44 groundballs this season to go with 14 caused turnovers. He scooped multiple groundballs in 11 of the 18 games.

Souders had six groundballs and two caused turnovers in a big triple overtime win over Villanova in February while adding five groundballs against Holy Cross and recording two caused turnovers in consecutive games against Georgetown and Lafayette. Souders has helped transform the Lehigh defense into one of the nation's best. The Mountain Hawks allowed just 7.22 per game (third in the nation) in 2014, holding opponents to single digits in 13 of their 18 games.

Souders started every game over his decorated four-year career in the brown and white, recording 139 groundballs and 56 caused turnovers.

The North-South Game started in 1940 and has been played every year with the exception of 1944 and 1945.

The Mountain Hawks reached their third straight Patriot League Championship Game in 2014, finishing 13-5. Lehigh was within one win of tying the school record of 14 victories (set in 2012) and are now 39-13 over the last three seasons. The Mountain Hawks defeated Navy and Army in the Patriot League Tournament, including a thrilling last-second win over the Black Knights in the semifinals.
