Â
The Mountain Hawks struggled on Tuesday, falling at #17 Yale by a 10-2 final. Lehigh won the opening faceoff after a long battle for the loose ball, which senior Jimmy Cahill scooped and forced a Bulldogs penalty. However, Yale killed the penalty and maintained momentum the rest of the game. The Bulldogs scored the first four goals and the Mountain Hawks could never get anything going. Lehigh could only muster 17 shots and turned the ball over 21 times. The two goals marked Lehigh's fewest since a 9-2 loss against Delaware in 2008.
Â
Juniors Alan Henderson and Jack Bogorowski scored the Mountain Haws' goals. Lehigh's faceoff game impressed as senior Ryan Buttenbaum and freshman Casey McAdam combined to win 9-of-15 against a strong faceoff man in Yale's Dylan Levings who won 60 percent of his draws a year ago. Buttenbaum won 7-of-12 and has now won 18-of-27 (67 percent) over the last two games. Saturday's battle at the faceoff X features Buttenbaum's 58.6 percentage (75-of-128) for the season against Navy's Brady Dove who has won 61.8 percent (84-of-136).
Â
Seniors Cahill, Andrew Mower and Lukas Mikelinich finished Tuesday with three groundballs apiece. After junior goalie Matt Poillon made seven saves in 46:07, sophomore Steve Brodeur came in to stop three-of-four the rest of the way.
Â
Lehigh will look to win at home for the seventh time in its last eight games and improve to 15-1 over its last 16 games against Patriot League foes. The last time the Mountain Hawks were home, Loyola snapped several streak, beating Lehigh 14-7. The Greyhounds went on to beat #4 Duke the following Sunday and currently stand #2 in both the coaches and media polls.
