ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Freshman Kaitlyn Ruffing won Lehigh's second individual Patriot League title in as many days to lead the Mountain Hawks on the final day of the Patriot League Championships, Saturday at Navy's Lejeune Hall. Ruffing captured the 100 yard freestyle in a school record time of 50.51 seconds to set one of four school records on the final day of competition.

Lehigh's women moved ahead of Colgate to finish in fifth place with 356 points. The Mountain Hawks crowned two individual champions and set 13 school records in four days of competition. At the completion of a very strong meet for the Mountain Hawks, head coach Rob Herb was named Women's Coach of the Meet for the first time in his career.

Ruffing's individual title was more impressive in that she barely made the A final, qualifying eighth, half a second behind the top time and .12 ahead of the ninth-fastest times. Ruffing's 50.51 in the finals broke the school record of 50.99 set by teammate Carolyn Koch last year. Koch also qualified for the finals in the 100 free and finished fourth with a time of 50.97 seconds.

Sophomore Courtney Patterson followed up her win in the 400 yard individual medley Friday with a fifth place finish in the 1650 yard freestyle with a school record time of 16:46.90. Freshman Cora Summerfield finished eighth in the event with a time of 17:09.39 while freshman Valerie Lauer gave Lehigh three point scorers in the event, taking 16th place with a time of 17:32.43.

Summerfield led a contingent of four Mountain hawks who scored in the 200 yard butterfly. She set a school record with a swim of 2:02.68 in the prelims, and then came in at 2:03.53 in the finals to place sixth. The previous record was set by Jamie Grivalsky in 2000.

Junior Mary Caitlin Samuels won the consolation final with a time of 2:04.12 to finish ninth, one spot ahead of freshman Kelly Carroll, who was .1 seconds behind. Lauer posted a time of 2:07.75 to finish 13th overall.

In the 200 back, junior Alissa Leung reached the A final where she finished seventh with a time of 2:01.61. Sophomore Melissa Feeney and junior Kimberly Weyand reached the B final in the 200 yard breaststroke. Feeney finished 12th overall in 2:21.87 while Weyand took 14th a time of 2:23.30.

The 13th and final school record came in the final women's event as Koch, Patterson, Carroll and Ruffing finished fourth in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:25.40.

Navy captured its third straight women's team title with 778 points, 198 more than second place Bucknell. Lehigh finished 139 points behind fourth place Army and 33.5 ahead of fifth place Colgate.
