BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh's track and field teams will be sending five athletes to compete at the NCAA East Regional from May 23-25 in Greensboro, N.C. Senior Devin Monroe will run in the first round of the 400 meter dash, while junior Pat Ciez and sophomore Adeolu Adesida have earned spots in the high jump. On the women's side, junior Jimil Ataman and senior E'lana Lemon will represent the Brown and White in the hammer throw at North Carolina A&T's Irwin Belk Track.
A 2.12-meter leap in the high jump by Adesida at the Lehigh Games set a school record and put him in the running for a national title in the event. Adesida ranks at No. 30 heading into next weekend's meet and Ciez is ranked at No. 45. Ciez earned All-League honors at the Patriot League Championships after narrowly defeating Adesida in the high jump by clearing 2.08 meters in an earlier attempt. The high jump begins at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Lemon posted a 57.19-meter heave at the ECAC Championships on Saturday that gave her All-East honors. She comes into the national championships ranked at No. 30 following that performance and is the Patriot League's most decorated athlete with 14 Female Field Athlete of the Week awards in her career.
Athletes that finish in the top 12 in their event earn All-American status and advance to the final round of NCAA Championships, which will take place from June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.
