Pair of Mountain Hawks selected to Academic All-Patriot League Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh track and field junior Jimil Ataman and senior Lauren Pietrosh were named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, the league announced Monday. The two Mountain Hawks are among a group of 10 athletes that hold a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.45. A History major, Ataman has held a 3.55 cumulative GPA while Pietrosh has maintained a 3.90 cumulative GPA in marketing during her career.
Ataman garnered All-East honors with a 57.04 meter throw in the hammer at the ECAC Outdoor Championships on Saturday in Princeton, N.J. Prior to earning a gold medal at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships with a throw of 55.50 meters on May 3, she had established new program records in the hammer. Her 55.75-meter heave at the Winthrop Invite on March 29 was surpassed just two weeks later when she threw for the current school record of 57.33 meters in the event. The Eagle, Idaho, native garnered her first career Patriot League Female Field Athlete of the Week award at the end of March. 
Pietrosh was a member of the second place 4x800 meter relay team at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships that crossed the finish line in 8:55.54. She finished fifth in the 800 meter run after clocking in at 2:14.31. The Marlboro, N.J., native earned a spot on the league's academic team following last year's indoor and outdoor seasons. She has been on the Patriot League Honor Roll three times, a member of the Dean's List multiple times and is part of the Emerging Leaders program at Lehigh. Pietrosh was also one of four members on the Mountain Hawks' record setting 4x800 meter relay team at last year's Patriot League Outdoor Championships. To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or key player in their sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
The NCAA Championships begin with the east regional May 23-25 in Greensboro, N.C. Selections to the competition will be announced at 1 p.m. Thursday. The major award winners and remaining members of the Academic All-Patriot League Team are listed below:
