Mountain Hawks season ends with 4-1 loss to Colgate in PLT

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Lehigh women's tennis team saw its season come to an end with a 4-1 loss to Colgate Friday in a Patriot League quarterfinal matchup at Army's Malek Tennis Courts. Junior Jenai Bilimoria picked up a singles win for the fifth-seeded Mountain Hawks but the No. 4 seed Raiders won the doubles point and three singles matches to advance to Saturday's semifinals against top seed Army.
Colgate captured the doubles point with 8-2 wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 flights. Jennifer Ho and Jackie Finn downed junior Jill Sloand and freshman Marian Prim at the No. 3 flight, while Kelsey Shea and Merideth Rock downed Bilimoria and sophomore Abby Farrell at the No. 1 flight.
Singles play was tightly contested, with four matches extended into a third set. The Raiders went up 2-0 as Katie Grant won 6-3, 6-4 over Prim at the No. 6 flight, but Bilimoria put Lehigh on the board with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Shea at the top flight.
At No. 2 singles, Petrini downed Farrell in three sets, winning 6-1 in the third after winning the first 6-0 and losing the second 6-0, to put Colgate on the brink of clinching.
The match was clinched at No. 5 singles as Rock rebounded from down a set to defeat sophomore Molly Brooks 2-6, 6-1, 6-0.
The matches at No. 3 and No. 4 singles were in third sets when the match was clinched. Colgate was up 2-0 in the third set at No. 3 while sophomore Emily Bruch was up 4-0 at No. 4
The Mountain Hawks' season comes to an end at 5-15. With no seniors on the roster, Lehigh returns its entire team for the 2013-14 season.
