Lehigh drops 7-0 decision to visiting Delaware

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Facing its second tough opponent in three days the Lehigh women's tennis team fell to Delaware 7-0 Saturday at the Lewis Tennis Center. The visiting Blue Hens swept all three doubles matches and six singles matches to remain undefeated on the spring season at 3-0, while the Mountain Hawks fall to 1-4.
Delaware opened the match with an 8-2 win from their No. 3 doubles team of Amanda Halstrom and Christina Harrington over Lehigh freshman Ali Kaminetsky and sophomore Molly Brooks. The Blue Hens then clinched the doubles point by winning matches at the top two flights by identical 8-6 scores.

Blue Hens extended their lead in singles as Dorothy Safron won 6-3, 6-0 over junior Jenai Bilimoria at No. 1 singles and Carmen Lai won 6-1, 6-2 over sophomore Abby Farrell at No. 2 singles. Delaware clinched the match at No. 3 as Nataliya Naumova won 6-1, 6-2 over Kaminetsky.

For the second straight match, junior Jill Sloand was the only Mountain Hawk to capture a set in singles play. After dropping the first set to Halstrom 6-0, Sloand battled back to take the second 6-4 before falling in a ten point tiebreak 10-5 to close out the match.
Lehigh will look to get back on the winning track next weekend when the Mountain Hawks host Stony Brook Saturday at 1 p.m. and Mount St. Mary's Sunday at 2 p.m.
