BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Following a ten day layoff for final exams, the Lehigh women's basketball team will return to action Friday and Saturday in the 17th annual Christmas City Classic. Stabler Arena will be the home of four games in two days as the Mountain Hawks host Vermont, Delaware and Youngstown State. Lehigh versus Vermont will kick off the tournament at 5 p.m. on Friday and all games can be viewed for free via the Patriot League Network.

Following Friday's 5 p.m. game, Delaware and Youngstown State will square off at 7:30 p.m. The tournament will then resume on Saturday with a 2 p.m. consolation game and 4:30 p.m. championship game. The Lehigh men's basketball team will then take to the Stabler hardwood versus Quinnipiac at 7:00 p.m.

Lehigh's last action was on Monday Dec. 9 when they handily defeated Saint Peter's, 75-54, in Stabler Arena. Four Mountain Hawks scored in double-figures en route to Lehigh's sixth victory of the season, led by sophomore Kerry Kinek with a career-high 25 points. Sophomore Elizabeth Sharlow chipped in 12 points, followed by junior Katie O'Reilly with 11 points, ten of which came in the second half. Freshman Kiernan McCloskey recorded a pair of career-highs with ten points and nine rebounds, which garnered her Patriot League Rookie of the Week recognition.

Vermont carries a 4-5 record into the Christmas City Classic. The Catamounts have outscored and outrebounded their opponents throughout its first nine games of the season despite the Vermont's losing record.

After dropping two straight games to Central Connecticut and Rhode Island, Vermont rebounded nicely to grab a 74-51 win against Canisus in its most recent game on Monday night. The Catamounts used a first half offensive outburst to gain an insurmountable advantage and were led by junior Kayla Burchill with a game-high 16 points.

Junior Niki Taylor leads the Catamounts with an average of 13.8 points per game, followed by freshman Kristina White with 11.0 and Burchill with 10.0.  Taylor also leads Vermont with 7.0 rebounds per game. Freshman Jordan Eisler leads the team with 1.8 steals and 3.8 assists per contest.

Two-time defending CAA champions and 2013 NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen team, Delaware carries a 6-2 record into the Christmas City Classic. The Blue Hens are ranked No. 7 in CollegeInsider.com's Mid-Major Poll.

In their most recent contest, the Blue Hens dropped a 84-80 overtime decision at Princeton on Sunday. Five Delaware players scored at least 12 points but it wasn't enough as the Blue Hens suffered their second loss of the season and saw the end of their five-game winning streak.

Senior Kelsey Buchanan leads the Blue Hens in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.4 points and 8.5 boards per game. Buchanan is the only Blue Hen averaging double-digit points, but five other Delaware players have tallied averages between eight and nine.

During the past two seasons, Delaware has compiled a combined record of 63-6 over and 36-0 in CAA play. The Blue Hens graduated Elena Delle Donne in May, who tallied the fifth most points in NCAA history with 3,039 throughout her four years at Delaware. Delle Donne was selected as the second overall pick by the Chicago Sky in the 2013 WNBA Draft and was awarded the league's Rookie of the Year honors in September.
After a bumpy start to the season, Youngstown State has begun to get back on the right track by capturing victories in its past two games. The Penguins carry a 3-6 record into the Christmas City Classic.

The Penguins will play in just their second and third road games of the season during the Christmas City Classic. Youngstown State's only other away contest was against Bucknell on Nov. 26 and the Penguins fell 66-41.

Youngstown State most recently captured an 80-73 double overtime win over Malone on Monday night. Junior Heidi Schlegel and senior Karen Flagg each posted double-doubles and four players scored in double figures as the Penguins used a second overtime surge to defeat Malone.

Schlegel leads the Penguins with 20.1 points per game, while Flagg has accumulated a team-leading average of 7.3 rebounds per game. Flagg has also tallied a team-leading 31 assists throughout the first nine games of the season.

Following the Christmas City Classic, the Mountain Hawks will have one final tune-up before Patriot League play begins as Lehigh heads to Columbia on Dec. 28 for a 2 p.m. contest.
