BETHELHEM, Pa - The Lehigh field hockey team will play a pair of nonleague games this weekend, beginning with a trip to Sacred Heart on Friday  (7 p.m.) before returning home to host Rider (1 p.m.) Sunday. The Mountain Hawks look to gain momentum heading into some key Patriot League matchups over the coming weeks.

Both games this weekend can be seen for free: Friday on NEC Front Row and Sunday on the Patriot League Network.

The Mountain Hawks fell to Lafayette (4-1) and La Salle (4-2) this past weekend. Freshman Marissa Glatt continued to stand out, earning her second Patriot League Rookie of the Week honor after assisting on Saturday's goal vs. Lafayette and scoring both goals at La Salle Sunday.

The Leopards jumped out to a 3-0 lead late in the first half, but the Mountain Hawks came out firing in the second. They scored just 23 seconds into the half as Glatt found classmate Gabby Tofig to pull within 3-1. Lehigh continued to pressure and had chances to pull closer, but Lafayette scored an insurance goal at 65:19 for the 4-1 final.

Then on Sunday, La Salle headed into halftime with a 2-0 lead, extending it to 3-0 only five minute into the second half. Lehigh wouldn't give up as Glatt scored two goals in a 5:10 span, extending her point streak to eight games. She currently leads the Patriot League with eight goals and 17 points for the season. The Explorers responded by scoring the final goal of the game at 56:07 for the 4-2 final.

Sacred Heart is also coming off a tough weekend, losing to both Albany (9-0) and Temple (3-0) to fall to 3-6 on the season. The Pioneers are 1-1 at home and 2-5 on the road.

Liz Bergman (four goals) and Christine Mace (three goals, two assists) lead the team with eight points apiece. Bergman far and away leads the team with 33 shots while Nicole Dobachesky has a team-leading two defensive saves. Mary Altepeter has played every minute in goal, owning a 3.06 GAA and .727 save percentage.

The Pioneers lead the all-time series, 5-1. Sacred Heart won last season's matchup, 4-0.

Two of Rider's three losses came last week, first to Drexel (2-1) then to Lock Haven (1-0). The Broncs are 6-3 overall and have yet to start NEC play.

Sandra Penas leads the team in scoring with 17 points (six goals, five assists), Nicole Hareau has 12 (six goals) and Kalyn O'Brien owns nine (four goals, one assist). Stacey Dileo has made a team-leading two defensive saves. Joelle Prettyman has started all nine games in goal, posting a 1.26 GAA and .686 save percentage.

Lehigh leads the all-time series, 17-15-1, but Rider has won five in a row. The Mountain Hawks' last victory came at home in 2007 by a 4-2 final.

Following the weekend, Lehigh will host new league member Boston University on Saturday (12 p.m.) and Lock Haven on Sunday (1 p.m.). Both games will be aired live on the Patriot League Digital Network.
