Women's tennis closes out fall slate at Patriot League Kickoff

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh women's tennis team hosted the Patriot League Kickoff tournament this weekend on the Ulrich Varsity Courts and inside the Lewis Tennis Center. The Mountain Hawks faced Lafayette, Colgate, and Army in singles and doubles action over the three day stretch.
The Mountain Hawks began the tournament in strong fashion claiming three of their four doubles matches against rival Lafayette. Lehigh's top team of senior Jenai Bilimoria and freshman Cassidy Cruz came up short but the other three Mountain Hawk teams posted wins over the Leopards. Lehigh's second doubles team featured junior Abby Farrell and sophomore Ali Kaminetsky. The Mountain Hawks also teamed senior Jill Sloand and freshman Jess Graham at third doubles and sophomore Marian Prim and freshman Nina Larraza played fourth doubles.
Saturday proved to be much more difficult as Lehigh split its set of singles matches against Colgate but lost three of four doubles matches and got swept in eight singles matches by the nine-time defending Patriot League champion Black Knights.
Lehigh bounced back on Sunday beating Colgate in three of four doubles matches and taking seven of the eight singles matches against Lafayette.
Bilimoria, Cruz, Farrell and Graham led the Mountain Hawks in singles play posting 2-1 records on the weekend. Farrell and Kaminetsky posted the lone doubles win over Army with a tiebreak victory at the second flight.

The Patriot League Kickoff marked the final event of Lehigh's fall season. The Mountain Hawks will open their spring season at home against Drexel in January.
