BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh head coach Judy Dwyer has announced the addition of two newcomers who will be joining the Mountain Hawks' women's golf program later this month. Nicole Feierberg and Tess Jennings will join Dwyer's first Lehigh squad as head coach. The duo joins an experienced group of veteran players in a program that did not lose any seniors to graduation.
Feierberg comes to Lehigh from Highland Park High School in Illinois. A four-year varsity starter and three-year team captain, Feierberg was named her team's most valuable player on three occasions, and was a four-time All-Conference selection on the links. She finished 11th at the 2011 Illinois state tournament after finishing seventh at sectionals and tenth at regionals. Feierberg also played on the Mid-American Junior Golf Tour where she recently won titles at the Windmill Open and Aberdeen Classic.
Off the course, Feierberg was named a Central Suburban League Scholar-Athlete and earned the Prairie State Achievement Award. She held leadership positions within the Highland Park Honors Society and was a member of DECA, Link Crew, the Italian Club and Educators of Tomorrow. Feierberg is enrolled in Lehigh's College of Business and Economics.
Jennings comes to Lehigh from Jesuit High School in Portland, Oregon. A 2011 FCWT second-team All-American, Jennings was a three-time Metro Conference medalist and Player of the Year. She was twice named All-State in golf as well. A team captain, Jennings was selected to represent the United States against Canada in the Northwest Pacific Ladies Amateur and also played in the Umpqua Bank Challenge and the LPGA Safeway Classic Pro-Am.
Outside of golf, Jennings served as Editor-in-Chief of her school newspaper and was a member of the National Honor Society and the Japanese National Honor Society. The honor roll student was selected to attend Seattle Leadership Diversity Conference, and the Oregon Humanities Summer Symposium. Jennings is enrolled in Lehigh's College of Arts and Sciences.
The addition of Feierberg and Jennings leaves the Lehigh roster at ten players. Seniors Chelsea Michalek and Ginette Schapira will lead the Mountain Hawks along with fellow senior Natalie Lansing. The 2012-13 season will mark the first season for women's golf as a Patriot League sponsored sport.
The Mountain Hawks will open their fall season at the Lady Bison Fall Invitational, September 8-9 in Lewisburg, Pa.
