Lehigh wins Lafayette 7 Way Sunday

EASTON, Pa. – The Lehigh women's track and field team won the Lafayette 7 Way Sunday as the Mountain Hawks posted 133 points, just two points ahead of host Lafayette. Lehigh won four events, two by Rebecca Duhamel. She placed first in the shot put and the discus throw while Alexandra Doersam won the long jump and Julia Perry won the 800-meter run.
Duhamel won the shot put with a distance of 13.07m while she threw a winning 42.47m in the discus throw, less than a meter ahead of Lafayette's thrower. Her two distances were just short of ECAC qualifying performances as her shot put distance was 0.53m away and her discus throw was even closer at 0.03m. She also finished sixth in the hammer throw with a distance of 45.50m.

Doersam won the long jump with a distance of 5.27m, just 0.16m ahead of second. Doersam also placed third in the 100m dash with a time of 12.51 and was part of the third-place team in the 4X100m relay with a time of 48.79, just 0.64 behind second and 0.69 behind first.
Perry won the 800m run with a time 2:14.33 while Lehigh also placed Catherine Tobiasen in third, Lauren Sternick in fourth and Alexandra Nevilla place fifth.
Lehigh also got a couple second place finishes as E'Lana Lemon was runner-up in the hammer throw with a distance of 51.66m. Jimil Ataman placed third in the event close behind Lemon with a distance of 51.36m. Ataman also placed third in the discus throw with a distance of 39.13.
The Mountain Hawks also took second and third in the javelin as Carly Deskins threw a distance of 37.58m and Melissa Romero was close behind her with a distance of 35.70m.
Lehigh also had two teams place second and third in the 4X400m relay. The team of Halie Carter, Danielle Albergo, Melissa Knapp and Elizabeth McManus took second with a time of 4:04.26 while the team of Jessica Kendzor, Savanna Plombon, Ingrid Simon and Tobiasen placed third with a time of 4:10.54.
In the 1500m run, Lauren Pietrosh placed third with a time of 4:46.65. Katie Baglio finished third in the shot put behind Duhamel with a distance of 11.84m and placed fifth in the discus throw with a distance of 35.95m.
Lehigh also got some great efforts from Jonelle Jerwick, who placed fourth in the pole vault with a distance of 3.10m, and Hanna Pierce, who placed fifth in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:47.58. Megan Hetzel and Charlotte Malmborg were right behind her in sixth and seventh, respectively.
After Lehigh and Lafayette finished 1-2, Saint Joseph's was third (115.5), East Stroudsburg was fourth (110.5), Rider was fifth (68), Muhlenberg was sixth (19) and Monmouth was seventh (7).

The Mountain Hawks will look to build off this momentum when it heads back to Lafayette next Saturday, April 7 for a dual meet vs. the Leopards.
