Three earn All-East honors at ECAC/IC4A Championships

Boston, Mass. - Senior Stephen Tutunjian, junior Julia Perry and sophomore Jessica Kendzor earned All-East honors Sunday at the ECAC/IC4A Championships in Boston, Mass. Tutunjian placed eighth in the long jump while Perry set a school record en route to a fifth-place finish in the 1,000-meter run and Kendzor was eighth in the 800-meter run, setting a school record in the preliminaries.
The Lehigh women's track and field team sent 11 student-athletes to compete in the ECAC Championships which ends the indoor track and field season.
Kendzor – a three-time Patriot League Champion this winter – had her second straight All-East performance as she placed eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:11.54. Kendzor set the school record in the prelims of the 800-meter run with a time of 2:10.24, surpassing the 2:13.23 which was set in 2009 by Sarah Serwo.
Lehigh had some other stellar outings as senior Katherine Pierce placed 10th in the 5,000-meter run and 16th in the 3,000-meter run. Freshman Savanna Plombon placed 21st in the 3,000-meter run.
Junior E'Lana Lemon placed 10th in the weight throw, just missing out on All-East honors by 0.25 meters.
On the men's side, Tutunjian placed eighth in the long jump with a distance of 6.93 meters to earn All-East honors for the second straight year.
Tutunjian, was named the Male Field Athlete of the Meet at the Patriot League Championships winning a pair of events, was one of 21 Mountain Hawks who qualified for the IC4A Championships.

Along with Tutunjian, All-Patriot Leaguer Kyle Forrest finished in 10th in the heptathlon with 4,885 points. His best event was the 1,000-meter run which he placed second in, just three seconds behind first. He also finished tied for fourth in the high jump with a distance of 1.95m.
Evans Kosgei placed 12th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:21.77. James Miller finished 14th in the event while Tyler Mueller was 16th.

All-East honors are handed out to the top eight finishers in each event.
The Mountain Hawks will next compete in three weeks to kick off the outdoor track and field season at the ASICS Winthrop Invitational in Winthrop, SC and the Big 5 Invite in Philadelphia, Pa.
